agreed. the tire already bulges quite a bit on that rim. any reason you want to go to the 235?

you can get them to fit, however a 235 will be FAT.

well, the GT that my bro had came with 235/55/17...and that is why I thought they would fit...

I even checked online and the outer diameter only changed by 1.6% which is acceptable, but i never realized that the width would be a problem.

I really don't need the tires, since my stock's have less than 20Kms on them, but i thought i should by his so that i have another set for cheap..

FAT is good, no?

fat tire, skinny rim = comfort.

if you want performance, and I assume you do given the vehicle you drive, get a tire/rim combo with a bit of stretch.

been there before....
I change from stock tires on sport rims (225/50 and 245/45 all 18) to 235/50 and 255/45. Fit was perfect for this car and ride very good.
Then I went to 245/45 all around and the front 7.5in wheel does not like it much, you will notice a fat tire up front and steering will be heavier.
Now I have 225/45 and 245/45, steering is very aggressive but a huge space between the front fender, ouch!

My Next tires will be 235/50 and 255/45 on summitomo or other.
