Why are the Lexus IS350 forums saying the G35 has lots of problems?

I think the fact that Infinitis are made in Japan, while most Nissans are made in the US probably plays a part in this.

I've been lurking around here for some time, can't contribute much, but I can say I went with my friend to test drive a IS350 and while it seemed a little smoother than the G, but the price was incredibly more expensive with slightly less features.
The best price the dealer offered my friend was 38,900 (fully loaded?) without a rear backup camera with 200+ miles while I was able to purchase my 08x for 32,125 (no trade) with prem/sprt/navi with 14 miles on the odometer.

One guy say
"Does anyone know the hack to use the navigation while in motion for the 09 IS250?"
Another question for that..
"So wait.... the navigation does not continuously navigate for you like other cars? I am picking my lexus up on monday and it has nav, but might be disappointed if it does not work.
and about this hack.... do you have to enter it everytime you wanna use or just once originally? "
Bahahahaha that's just too funny.

When I was shopping for a new car, the G was last on my list...behind the Benz C350, BMW 335, IS350, and even an Audi A3 (I love hatches)....
But after my first test drive, I just bought the 08x on the spot.....I haven't regreted for 1 damn second....I would do it again.....NOT one single problem to date...not even a rattle or a vibration anywhere.....
a BIG 10+ from me
all the other cars don't justify their price premium over the G....

I have driven an is350 before(my mom's) and the differences are night and day between the G and the IS. Both are very good cars, but in there own ways.
Pluses in the IS are very quiet ride, reasonably quick, ventilated seats! and very good gas mileage. This makes the car a very good old person/chick car, no offense to anyone out there who drives one!
The Negatives are, poor brake feel/modulation(its like an on/off switch), steering is too light and numb, the cabin is very small/snug imho(im only 5' 6"), center console stack layout is horrible/dated, no sporting intention whatsoever in terms of driving experience, tech is not up to date and the auto tranny shifts slowly.
All the negatives in the IS are the G's strong points and vice versa. But every car has a different target audience, what works for us G drivers may not work for others. The G targets the performance/tech and value crowd, which isnt as big as the refinement/good gas mileage/badge snobbery crowd from what i can tell. Thats why in my neck of the woods, i don't see too many G's, more TL's, IS's and 3 series. All this is my opinion and subject to criticism, HA!
Oh yeah, I rate my G 9.5/10 cause interior fitment could be better and i have some tapping/rattling noises, nothing crazy though

When my current lease of the G35 08xS is up about 6 months and I'm seriously thinking about buying a preowned IS350. Because lexus reliabitlity and the IS350 speed.
The only problem is I'm from NJ area and there is not much to choose from when it comes to preowned 350. There are plenty of awd is250 but they are dogs compare to G35 and IS350. Also, the snow factor plays a part here in the east coast since this will be a everyday car for me.
I don't know, maybe Infiniti will sweeten the lease buyout when is due time because of the economy. But then again I never hear anyone successfully negotiated lease buyout from Infiniti financial.

My 08 G35 Xs has been solid, I agree about the interior materials, but overall a great car. My biggest complaint is the service department of the dealer. I am wondering what genuis decided that they give "loaner" cars out for "some" service. I have an Acura and they actually OFFER a loaner for oil changes and regular maintenence.
I am not the only one who is disappointed.
My cousin has a G35 S and his dealer has lied to him on several instances. They were supposed to order a new radio for the car (the CD player does not work) and 3 times they told him it was in and 3 times he went to the dealer (50 miles ONE WAY) and "the wrong part was ordered". Then they charged him $75 to rotate the tires, which cannot be done on a G35 S because the tire sizes fron and rear are different and they would not refund his money. They claimed it was a "computer glitch". Calls about this kind of stuff to corporate brings an "it's between you and the dealer" attitude. They need to work on their pepole skills.
Otherwise both of us like the cars.
