..remember, in this market the G is a near luxury sport sedan.
If you want bells & whistles, you'll probably be happier in a Lex.
they do make a mess,

i can see using them on a long haul when it slushy out in the winter, the lights do actually get really dirty to the point where it does limit light output.

^ yeah, I can see where they would be useful the odd time.

The biggest issue with the BMW system was that they were automatic with no manual control.
They triggered every 3rd cycle of the windshield washers.

There should have just been a button to give a squirt when the driver decided it was needed.

^Agreed!
Get a lexus if you're really going to complain about that stuff.

And parking sensors are more for trucks and SUVs, I've never had a problem parking my G35.
Like, seriously? Parking sensors on a car? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I just find that *BEEP* noise annoying.
Idk who thought it would be a good idea to put them in cars, but I think it's stupid.
EXCEPT for that lexus that can parallel park itself, this is something I would be interested in, lol.

Also, this is probably the FUNNIEST thread I've ever read on this forum.
People here can be so mean to complainers ... gotta love the Infiniti loyalty!

automatic ehh? that does sound weird, who does that,,,,

they prob spent more $ designing a solid state 3 round counter when they could have gone to the switch bin and re-labeled a switch and put another spot on the dash, ORRR used the win was control system for the back window in the SUVs and rewired it to the headlight wash.

damn i need to write a book or sumten.

you're right. the europeans get the washers, parking beepers, and side markers

AND they get the rain sensor.

that "near luxury" argument someone mentioned above is bogus. These features are offered or standard in competitors. they should be offered in the G too. They're already offered in europe. why hold back in the USA..... The US gets the castrated version

Not that I want to be part of the argument but I would like to have those on the G too. Not that I need them (no one "needs" a luxury or near luxury car). The Z is able to tell you the weather as well (another useless feature). My gut feeling is its all coming in the 2010 model. My gut feeling doesnt count for much anyways

link - you gotta realize the G has been in the US for nearly three years and Japan for just as long. Infiniti is JUST NOW entering the European market, so they have to work with the products they already have. I've read many articles where Europeans have different values than Americans, they want different things. Now the side markers are just a gov't safety requirement, I'm going to guess that the headlight washers, auto-wipers, and parking sensors are because they're going head first into a BMW, Benz, Audi market.

Here in the states, they've established themselves. We're willing to take a little hit in luxury for the far cheaper price and better standard engines/handling. In Europe they're going to want it all, cars are VERY expensive there and Infiniti needs to bring something to the table or the Europeans will stick to their roots. They have to bring everything they can imagine - I bet these features (not side markers) will work their way into a future USDM G, although most likely as a snow package or in a technology package.

Don't forget that you can get a backup CAMERA - so who the hell needs parking sensors too? I don't really know why you need parking sensors to begin with... it's not that hard

If I have a back up camera...why do I also need parking sensors?

My buddy's Escalade has both...never understood what the point of it was.

If I had to guess why they aren't included in the US Spec version, its because the added cost wasn't really worth it. Side markers? Really? I don't care about that, there's nothing luxurious about a feature that is on some economy cars. Headlight wipers? Yeah those would be useful...maybe Infiniti had focus groups in the US who said that they didn't care about that either...I don't remember the last time someone ever bragged about that, except for Ron White's brother in law.

And parking sensors...I don't like them, I don't like the bulges they make in the bumper and we already have a freakin backup camera.

Do you hop on the BMW forums and complain how the 3 Series doesn't have a backup camera available at all? Do you hop on the IS forums and bitch about the fact that they don't have distance lines and guidance lines on their backup camera screen?

I MEAN AREN'T THESE THINGS STANDARD ACROSS THE BOARD?!?!?!

good point about the price.

I've driven stripped cars for most of my life. I don't 'need' the parking beepers.
but all this luxo crap is nice to have just because......
