that's exactly why we have an option for a freakin camera that has distance lines and a box that shows the cars trajectory based on steering input - that's WAY more badass and high tech than sensors that beep when you get closer

still no excuse not to offer headlamp washers here, even if you refuse to use them.

it's standard on the 3 series, and ONLY a $100 option on the IS. As such a cheap option, I'd get it.

even lowly toyotas have them. so they are not a luxo feature.

and don't tell me to go buy a bmw or lexus then.... that's a cop out.
Nissan should offer it here, because you never know when you're gonna run into a pile of mud mixed with steaming horse shit.

Like your posts?

European cars have headlight washers/wipers due to laws requiring them. That is why the "other" car manufacturers have them, because they come from Europe. That is also why they have the foglight on the rear bumber. Do you want one of those too because it means "luxury"?

The last thing I want on my nice clean bumper are light squirters and sensors. I would just shave them off if I had them probably.

Looked it up

I went and looked up the exact reason that Infiniti in Europe offers more luxury features than in America:

Basically, Infiniti said that they had to tweak their features and cars to appeal more to the Europeans who have BMW, Mercedes and Audi all from their country and are used to luxury. They also said something about how Lexus failed when they tried to make it into the European market, and they don't want to make the same mistakes.

"Although Infiniti sells similar vehicles in the U.S. and Japan, it has tweaked their designs to appeal to European motorists." and those aren't the only features they added, "Because Europeans tend to drive faster, the European models will [also] have noise-dampening features including 30% thicker carpeting and specially designed wiper blades and door seals."

"Japanese cars are simply not associated with luxury in most of Europe," says Earl Hesterberg, chief executive of Group 1 Automotive.
So I guess the main reason for the differences is to prove that association wrong.

PLUS the G37 Sedan sells for $56,500, and that's US Dollars vs 33,000 in america.

I think that is Links point, if these features are required by law and appeals to luxury, then why not have them here too?

The price differential has to do more with taxes, import duties etc, if such features were added on the US spec G, it would not suprise me if the price went up by a fraction of where it is now. BTW, if the 56500 is for a base G, that one has no leather seats.

Funny, my 3 doesn't have them, nor does it need them. It is not a standard option fyi.

And I think the point is not why they don't have them here, but why they have them in europe.
And the reason is because of competition, they don't want to loose sales because people can't wash their headlights ... lol, which I still think is stupid!

Idk, 25,000 in taxes and tariffs seems like a lot to me. thats like what, 56% of the base 32000 model? And it is $56,000 for the base G, according to this site anyway.

And the base G does have leather seats, because I have the base G and I burn my @$$ when I sit on them in the summer! lol.
They don't make a G without leather seats. Not after 07 anyway. Definitely not in a 2009 model.

As far as pricing is concerned thats how it works, take your plasma screen to Europe, it will cost 50% more. Thats the case across the board for electronic products and cars. I think I may have left out a few things but taxes, import duties are the main reason for this.

To be frank, I dont mind having these things here too, for a couple of 100s more, why not

the price discrepancy is something most of us don't understand.

Gas is like $9 per gallon. and gas is gas.

Some of you like to argue for the sake of arguing.
"i don't need this, i don't need that......that's stupid...."

Has it ever been a sin to add more gizmos to a car? the more the merrier !

I can't even comprehend why some of you are so resistant to adding more features to your cars.

If infiniti brought the euro spec here today, you'd get a screwdriver and pry the parking sensors out? ridiculous

I think the argument that has ensued here is like the "Garnet Amber is better than the Ivory Pearl" (substitute for ant 2 colors you like, I picked 2 at random). There is no right answer and its up to you which is better. I am with you Link, the more the merrier.

A humble opinion...

If someone wants to post about a G feature not found in the US....let 'em. Unless you're the one paying for the bandwidth...let it go. One also might want to inquire about the relationship between posts/views and attractiveness to advertisers. I'm not a new member to this forum but can certainly see how such attacks could discourage future members/posts.

Again, just a humble opinion.

No, but adding those features would add cost to our cars, something we don't want. We're all happy to forgo parking sensors and headlight washers to save what...$1,000 bucks (the number is arbitrary)

Nobody is going to actually pry the sensors out, but they do look like crap in many applications. AND WE HAVE BACKUP CAMERAS

+1 to the article excerpts that were posted above. That's the article I've read before and where I got my information to my post - Europeans have much different tastes than we do. Cloth comes in most base luxury cars there, while we scoff at the idea - they don't see it as a bad thing. They also are used to a quiet, smooth, established car like the Germans have, so Infiniti is adding all that sound deadening and etc. to please them.
