Do wider tires throw off handling characteristics?

Put G37 sport wheels on my sedan for summer (I run stock 18 with snows for winter). First thing I notice is they are louder/rougher due to 40 series tires(expected that). But my car seems to "track" imperfections in the road. Like I'm have to constantly keep the car centered in the lane. Is it me, the nature of the tires, or must I align my car every time I swap sets? I might also be just overanalysing the whole thing. Anyone else notice? 808Mike?

The width and size of the tire will affect handling, the sidewall can affect response, but how your car sticks to the lines on the road is on the type of tire.

Try running a staggered setup with narrower tires in the front.

HAHA, yea my car does the same Bro! Like above said, every tire drives diffrently! but if you have bad roads with Ruts, patches, just uneven pavement, the car will sometimes tend to drift around with the road imperfections, not dangerously kind of movements, but you do feel the pull or follow with the road, and the stiffer smaller sidewall tire does not help any! makes it more pronounced! HAHA. and if you put wider tires, it will do the same. i'm used to it, but just gotta keep alert!

The tread pattern also adds to what is called "tram-lining", where basically the design of the tread forces it to gnaw at the lines on the road and follow-it... think of how trains stick to the tracks/rails.

Some tires are pretty bad at it, while others are a bit more controlled.

I have the same exact problem. Oh good, i thought is it just me. I am thinking about buying a set of 245 for the front, but now i am having second thoughts.
