Jerky acceleration and shaking braking making me regret my G35X purchase
Hi,
I purchased an automatic pre-owned 2007 G35X with 19,000 miles on it 4 months ago from a reputable dealer. Great car, but there are two issues that are making me regret my purchase decision:
I've heard these types of comments somewhere before from other G35 owners since purchasing, but I wanted to know how widespread the issues really are, and if anyone has fixed them.

- The car jerks nearly every time I press the accelerator. Not a smooth and gradual acceleration, but an abrupt lunge forward. This even happens when in motion . . . when I step on the gas again coming out of a turn or something, it jerks forward. I've learned to try to gently ease it down, but it almost always jerks. I like get-up-and-go as much as anyone, but this issue is extremely annoying and feels unrefined for such a nice car.
- When braking, the car repeatedly shakes and the gear shifter rattles back and forth. This is not only at higher speeds, but also going 20 - 40 mph. Again, not a smooth braking experience at all - very annoying.
I've heard these types of comments somewhere before from other G35 owners since purchasing, but I wanted to know how widespread the issues really are, and if anyone has fixed them.

#1... there's a TSB for that. I personally prefer the touchy throttle. Now that I'm used to it, I'd beat the tech that TSB's my car without my okay.
#2... the OEM rotors on the X/Journey suck and will need turning inside 20K with semi-spirited driving habits.

Ya know, I've read the horror stories about people having that TSB done without their consent.
I'm tellin ya... I'd lose it if that were me.
I LOVE my throttle response now.
factory, it was touchy. Now that the grounding wires and BD are in... holy cow!

I've had my '07 G35x for about four months now and I thought that the throttle response was waay too sensitive. I would have jumped on that TSB in a second but after driving it, I am slowly getting used to it, however I will still hit that pedal a bit too hard sometimes, especially when backing, because i actually turn around a look when backing up.

the discs are warped,
as for the throttle, it very well could be you.
this car has a bottom hinged gas pedal.
most cars have a top hinged pedal.
so if you are use to driving one of the top ones.
and you put your foot near the bottom of the pedal you will get more pedal movement.
but if you use your whole foot on the gas and not just ur toe, and move the top of the pedal, you will get much more precise control of the pedal movement.
1 inch of movement on the botom of the pedal is ~ 1/2 throttle
1 inch of movement on the top of the pedal is ~ 1/8 throttle.
try it.

Pay attention to what snowcrossmxz states about how the accelerator pedal is hinged. He is absolutely correct. One way to deal with it, as he states, is NOT to toe the pedal--which works well with a bottom hinged pedal but not the top hinged G. Use a flat foot on the pedal to avoid toeing the top. I discovered this within days of my G purchase 2 years ago.

Grounding Wires - Our cars are fly by wire. Everything is electronic. Grounding wires improve the grounds in the system and improve the efficiency of the electrical system. The grounding kit I have installed grounds the left and right sides of the chassis, left and right cylinder banks and left and right thorttle bodies. Although some will disagree with their effectiveness, I noticed pretty good results in terms of responsiveness and the stereo and interior lighting are brighter and more potent now as well.
BD - Bully Dog ECU Tune.
By the way, I totally agree with the guys above. Use your heel as a hinge point at the bottom of the pedal until you get a better feel for the responsiveness. I'm now back to driving with my toe and I'm not lurching at all any more. It just takes getting used to.

Damn I need to get the BB grounding kit and BD soon...
