Window Tinting

When I bought my G the 1st thing I did was tint the windows with 35 rating. My question is has anyone had any problems with their windows motor slowing due to tinting or just in general. Im sure mine were the same before and after but when asked the service rep. to do check them out under warranty he said it was because of the tinting. Is that B.S. or not? I've had a few cars before and never this problem. Anyone else?

Have mine tinted at 35, everything has been normal for a couple months now.

I call BS, I find it hard to believe a tint film would have any change at all on the motor. My windows work just fine with my tint, no problems what-so-ever.

Then the tinter may have screwed it up, but tinting a window isn't going to make the motor go bad.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said they still go up just not as fast and I can hear the motors straining a little. The problem is pretty much the front 2 windows with the passenger side going up and down a little faster than the driver side. I brought it up about 15,000 miles ago and he said they lubed the windows but I didnt notice much diffence. Well now Im at 51,000 and want it resolved before losing warranty? Not sure what I could say when they have the tint response other than your telling me a Ford explorer has better window motors than my G?

Had mine tinted in 07. No problems to report until a year later when the drivers and passenger window started to slow down.

What a load of Bologna!
I have 35% tint (not that the % makes a diff.) and it was actually done by a shop that was recomended by my Infiniti dealership.

i do know some window films are thicker than others so in the summer it can make the problem worse but for a dealer to tell you this is the reason..i dont know about that

God I hate people who are full of chit. How long have people been putting on aftermarket tints ??? Ask you smart service rep. to put his knowledge on paper when he says that again.

On the other hand you said they supposedly lubed the windows. So did my ex-service writer when I had the same problem and after asked to make sure they did it ( which his response was of course !)low and behold when I was at the cashier I see him out by my car with a can of lube working on my windows .

Anyway my windows were doing the same thing going slow and even starting to reverse if the car wasnt on. Once the window tracks were relubed they worked properly again and at the same speed as the good windows with no problems since. Just a guess, I think what may happen is when you get your windows tinted some installers may use alot of soapy water that trickles down the inside of the window and possibly breaks down the lubrication on the tracks. Try using some silicone based spray lube on the window tracks and I bet the problem will go away.

Good luck,
Brad

I'll agree with kid4now's post. My wife had her Murano tinted and the rubber got kinked up after they squeegeed the film out and it made a couple of the windows run slow. All I had to do was pull it back up (it had gotten pushed down in the opposite direction). I had my G tinted a few months ago and I haven't had any issues with it however.
