Safety Question with Rims

Would y'all trust these rims for track days not to break or bend or anything under the stresses?

http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/1348154870.html

They're by Konig, which is a name brand - although not the pinnacle of wheel builders. I know I'm probably overthinking this, but they're a good deal with pretty decent tires to shred up on the track. I just don't want to put an "inferior" quality wheel on my car or a wheel that will put the rest of my car and myself at risk.

I don't know much about Konig's but Rota's have bad reps from before but honestly their rims are of good quality now. They're priced well, looks great, and work well. If I were you I would look into a set of Rotas, you could get a new set of rotas for about $1000 and have money left over to buy performance tires. Or you could get the real things (volks, works, etc.) and pay $4000 for rims, and have to spend another $1000 on track tires. Look into them, they're really popular with the Subaru crowd so search around on nasioc.com. Just my input. BTW these would be sweet for you to pull off.

The set I'm looking at is $650 with fairly new tires. There's no way in hell I'm spending upwards of $1500 for a set of track wheels. That's what I paid for the wheels I DD on.

If I can't get these, or if they don't work I'll be going with some Nissan/Infiniti or Mustang OEMs (granted they fit up as they should)

Who spends $4000 on Volk or Work wheels? Tools.

Where'd you get your prices from?

been there done that

I used to have a set of the 6-spoke 18x8 wagon wheels. Once those tires wore out I had alot of issues with the tires TireRack sent me so to save myself the trouble and I wanted 17s anyway I sold everything. I'm really interested in these Konigs because they should fit the S brakes (he says they'll fit a 13" Brembo kit) and they're super fat at 17x9. Gives me tons of options for widths, and in the long run 17s are so much cheaper than 18s to replace.

He needs a set of 350z wheels though to put on his 300zx before he can sell the rims ,ughh

Im no engineer, but I would imagine that it'd be hard to crack a rim on a smooth road course. I'm willing to bet that the majority of cracked rims (Rota or not) were due to potholes etc

I am an engineer! (in training...if i make it). That's what I was hoping for in response, that's what I thought. I didn't know if it was risky considering the extreme stresses or turning, braking, accelerating at 100%

I'd also be worried about the weight since you're actually tracking the car.

yea... Most wheels cracks/bends occur on streets/highways where roads are not ideal.

pfft... my 19s are lighter than that.

Those Konig's should hold up just fine! I wonder if he's willing to trade the OEM 18's off a G35s?

Do you have yours?? He's looking for 350z or G35 wheels. I'm not sure if sedans are included, want me to ask him if he's interested in yours?? That'd help me out a ton too

Yep, still have mine. It's just been sitting in the garage. What did you have in mind?
