What's up Guys,

This is my 1st post but I find myself on here everyday! Has anyone had issues with their windshield cracking? I have an 08 G. I was headed to the gym this morning and noticed a 12" crack that starts from the seal of the window on the passenger across. Any ideas? Is it just from a shift in temperature? It was pretty warm in Va yesterday and last night was cool? I'm sure this isnt warranty work either, right? Thanks.

shifts in temperature shouldn't be cracking windshields.

Not to my knowledge at least...

I haven't heard of any windshield cracking from temperature change. However I do think that the OEM glass isn't the best quality. A couple months back I ended up getting a small chip on the glass then about two days after that I drove through some highway construction and ended up with several chips and cracks all over in seperate areas. I has plenty of distance from the drivers ahead of me and my windshield ended up looking like I had driven through gunfire. Well not that bad but you get the point, I had installed a Pilkington windshield after hearing good things about them and couldn't be happier with it so far.

I haven't seen this on modern cars but certainly on vintage. I had one car that would simply driving down the road and hitting a bump. The fix after three in a row was a different seal on the windshield since it had been determined that car flexed which caused the windshield to crack (72 Ford).

Chances are you had something like a small pit someplace that caused a stress crack due to its location.
