I got a few too, steering wheel, door inserts, etc. It is a material defect as it's not really scratching it's the material flaking away completely. Nothing touches my steering wheel except my hands. It's a defect for simple hands on a steering wheel to result in plastic pieces flaking off.

My buddy got his replaced under warranty, my car's lease is almost up so it doesn't really bother me, but if I were keeping this car, I'd demand it get fixed and would expect it to get fixed.

I agree that the flaky material that cover the steering wheel is a problem. I am extra careful not to scratch it anywhere but already began to see the signs of flaking on the steering wheel and the door inserts. Right now I'm not too bothered by it, but will handle it with the dealership when it gets much worse.

Ok just got my car back. They gave me a white EX to drive, it was sooo cute. Anyway, they ordered a new steering wheel, all four door handles, this will be my 3rd drivers seat because it keeps rocking, fixed the weather stripping tsb, and fixed the wind noise rear passenger seat tsb. Hope this helps guys.

i'm getting my car passenger door, driver door, and steering wheel all replaced. I was just wondering though, do they give you the parts with the same material that flakes off easily, or the updated ones from 2008?

Updated parts from 08 thank goodness. So there should be no more flaking. I can run my fingernail across it and no scratches. It is definitely a different material. I would know if they put the 07 material back, it would have been scratched up by now.

I'm not so sure about updated parts. For sure the current ones with the more durable finish do not fit the 07. I just don't remember what year they switched.

Mid 08 they switched. I had 07 with the same issue you guys had. On my 08 from mid 08 production and it is flawless. Its easy to find out tho. The 07 door material is soft like dilicon but the new one is hard plastic. However they look same.

Hmmm, then my early '08 that I bought in Oct. 2007 has the old material but I didn't have a scratch.

Went to the Davie dealer this week and they replaced my four door inserts as warranty. The material is more durable than the previous one. They would not replace the steering wheel as it only had 1 nick and definety not replace the shift **** even though it had multiple nicks.
