Service Poll

Just curious as to how many sedan owners go in for regular service every time the scheduled reminders appear. Please answer the poll accordingly. I’m reaching 77,000km and the only service needed is an oil change. Could I get away with just having the oil changed somewhere. Or is there vital fluids that need to be flushed, service work and whatnot.

Thanks in advance

^ That's only about 12k miles in between oil changes. As long as you check the oil and make sure that it's not low, you're really not going to hurt the car. Well, I guess I can't speak for this specific car, but I know it's not necessarily the kiss of death.

Yeah, need a DIY option. I have done my oil changes and tire rotations, cleaned air filters, and whatnot.... I have an 03 Murano with about 60k miles also and never taken that to a shop for work yet, other than recalls...

Sorry boys forgot the DIY option. All I need is an oil change so im thinking of just going to a penzoil or somewhere and just have that done for this interval and take to the dealership for the next. If I take to the dealer there obviously going to quote me a ridiculous number.

Can't help much on answering the poll. For Oil changes, for example, i adjust those reminders depending on what i'm doing with the car (i.e. heavier loads than usual) and/or what Blackstone tells me.

That, too, depends on which schedule you're following - Premium, Schedule 1 or 2?

Just to put in my 2 cents; I would not go more than 5000 miles between changes, unless you are running synthetic oil, if you are using synythetic then I would not go much further than 12k miles. Additionally, I would not take my car to Jiffy Lube or any other "quick change" shop, I've seen many things messed up by these types of shops.

As far as the warranty, stay with the dealer if at all possible, for me that is becoming increasingly difficult.

Only warranty repairs are done at the dealership, everything else is pretty much either a DIY (filter replacement) or a trusted auto shop (oil changes, tranny fluid, tire rotations/ balancing, flushes, belt, brakes etc.)

I do all my routine maintenance on the G. I did the first oil change at 3,750 mi and then at 7,500. At the first change, I switched to full syn and a better filter (than the OEM Nissan) and have maintained the 7,500 interval for oil/filter changes. I do change cabin and air filters every 15,000 miles. Tire rotation every 5,000. The G is really easy to work on, even if a casual DIYer.

Almost any good synth will work - Mobile 1, AMSoil, Pennzoil Platinum. I've had UOA's done on all three with good results.

Dealership, or any automotive parts/supplies stores like Autozone, O'Reilly, Checkers, etc.

Cabin filter.

For oil and oil filter, you can refer to your manual. Or search here for a DIY with pictures.

I don't think you can easily replace the gas tank filter.

You can visit this site for more info on DIY stuff.
