Exclamation Dealer Infiniti paint damage

Hi guys, I am planing to buy a used 2007 G53x from an Infiniti dealer. The car has some paint damage on the hood and side fender. The dealer is telling me that they are going to scrap the old paint and fresh paint the body parts. The painting job is going to be done by an infiniti certified painters and paint.

The question I have is, should I get this car. Sinceit doesn't have factory paint any more and the car loses it value.

What would you guys recomend.

Thanks

I'd have them re-paint the car and bring someone that knows about paint & body work check it out to give me their opinion. If it looks like a quality job and you are interested n the car then offer them what the car is worth to you, if you think the car has lot value then offer them that.

You better off with non infiniti paint. Since they switched to water based paint Infiniti's paint well not the best. If you get a good old paint on iot it will be better. Honestly if I had a chance to go with a 3 years old car and fresh paint or a 3 years old car with its original paint I'd take fresh paint. Of course we talking about a reputable paint shop's job.

Aren't most automotive paints now water based?

Yes they are. But the shops can used the good old paint. Only restriction is for the car manufacturers. I believe.

Would this job depreciate the value of the car... In future if I want to trade or sell my car I don't **** this thing to be an issue.

What price should I offer to the dealer it's a fully loaded car with 20000 miles?

I believe that certain states in the US are now required to use the water based paints, and using the pre-VOC stuff is illegal. Don't know about Canada though.

Now they just have to make the waterbased more durable.

i'd steer clear of buying a painted up car. I am in the automotive business on the wholesale end and i know that any car no matter how nice it is will take a hard hit due to paint work of any kind. I would keep looking...
