So.. I lost BOTH my key fobs..
I was wondering about all this above. I didn't get a metal number tag with wither one of my fobs. But before I lose anything I'm taking them down to Infiniti to see whats involved in replacement.
- BTW, what happens if a fob is lost and you're far from dealer? Can an owner even get into the car to tow it? What do I tell AAA when I call them?

Got to be either used or recalled ikey or possibly one from previous model year.
There are a bunch of used ones on ebay with cut keys.

Let me tell you a little something about losing keys lol... I lost both sets of keys to my old ml350, then 2 years later did the same with my g. Now to make sure I don't lose my key fob I stapled it to my forehead.
Anyway the only option I see is to have your car towed to the nearest nissan or infiniti dealership so that they can cut and program you new keys. Oh and btw you don't need that tag that came with your keys because you lost both of them.

^ that's how it gores usually. Only xxbux than final bill comes ...bang.
I am actually surprised how many people misplacing fobs. I never lost one.
My neighburs son was asking my long ladder few times this year since he lost his keys.Upper patio door was never locked. I told my neighbur to install keyless garage door opener. He did and no more keys for his son. LOL He goes thru the garage. Maybe you should ask a spare cut key and hide it somewhere on your car. Just in case.

1) You have to determine whether or not they were originally recalled I-keys that are subject to problems when located close to cell phones. There is a TSB that describes how to tell by looking at the serial numbers. 2) You have to determine if the mechanical key is cut or not. 3) Do they work? This will be hard to find out unless they are new.
If you buy on ebay, look for a reputable dealer. Riverside Infiniti for example sometimes puts them on ebay.
