Service interval-Does any one adhere to the 7,500 miles mark?

I drive about 550 miles a week, 80% of which are all highway.
Do you think I will be ok with the 7,500 interval? or do i need to do the 3,750-which is a PITA for me because it required more downtime/loaners/extra trips...

thanx fellas

If you're using a quality synthetic oil (Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, German Castrol, Amsoil etc.) and a good filter (Mobil1, WIX or Amsoil), 7500 interval should be alright. I try to be on the careful side and go 5,500 - 6000 miles befor a change (coincides with tire rotation).

so i assume that you don't take your car to the dealer? If so do you have to save all your oil change receipts to cover your *** in case of warranty issues?

^ its always a good idea to do that, and i would recommend going to 5k with a good synthetic oil easy (you can go up to 7.5k but i wouldnt).

If you are doing it yourself (or personal mechanic/shop) but are conscious of your warranty then i would stay with the recommended 5w-30 so that you have the receipts show the recommended oil spec and they wont give you a hard time.

If you want you can play around with the oil weight for personal needs as long as you can back yourself if the need be in any warranty issues.

for cold winters 0W20 or 0W30 and for really hot summers 10W30 should be fine, overall i believe 5W30 syn is good enough in most weathers.

I have ~21k on my car with a similar commute (120 mi/day roundtrip) and go about 6500-7k between oil changes. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic EP 5W-30 with a Mobil 1 filter. Haven't had any problems so far.

Gotta be honest, I don't have all of my receipts... but my mechanic does. Based on the problem feedback on this forum, chances are good that the warranty problems most will dealing with IN warranty period will have little to do with engine issues Take my car to the dealer for an oil change? Only if I am doing warranty repair work at the same time (warranty repair is the only reason to show up at the stealer).

I use mobil 1 synthetic and change it very 5000 miles on the dot. With gas prices being so high.. an oil change for me is cheaper than a full tank of gas! = (

I run Amsoil & change about 8000km (5K miles)
I found this to be optimal based on oil sample testing.
