My 2008 has a lifetime average of 15mpg after 36,000 miles.
Mainly highway driving.
This is f@cking pathetic.

What EXACTLY can we do to improve the mileage?

I can't complain. I fill up about once a week.
I've owned the car about 6 weeks now and never got less than 19 mpg/tank, averaging 22 in mostly highway using 92 octane E10 from Sheetz.
Highest tank average was 24.9.

I just got my car about a month ago, and I have been averaging about 18.3-18.5 mpg.. That is a mix of 60-40 Highway/city.

I would agree the city driving kills this car.

I have noticed that when you use like an 1/8 of an inch of throttle, the gas seems to just flood into the engine.

It baffles me because if you feather the gas pedal in a normal car, the gas will trickle in as the throttle body you just opened is only slightly cracked. But in this car if you touch the gas pedal at ALL, then it acts as if your are at WOT.

Thats the problem I have with this car and its gas mileage.

BTW I get almost 300-315 miles out of one tank. I have been filling up about once every 1.5 to 2 weeks.

MY GS400 was only like 250-280 miles per tank. So I am kinda happy with this fuel economy.

As I do love these posts...here's my latest:

Over 15,123 miles driven from purchase (25,3k miles) to last fill-up, I've averaged 18.2 mpg overall. I've gotten as much as 26mpg and as little as 12.9.

I get 18/26 city/hwy. Fortunately when I convert that to our imperial mpg's I'm left feeling much better 22/31mpg
It could be worse...a Veyron's (the first one) 100L tank will be empty in 12 minutes when running full out WOT...now that's bad...but probably worth every drop.

I was just in the market for another G35 but this post has me re-considering, on guy posted 12.9 MPG, Seriously? **** I'm better off keeping my Denali if that's the MPG these new G35s are getting.

I did notice most of the listed ****ty mileage were G35X, but they were some manual transmissions sprinkled in there too. Wow.

This is what I'm going to look at on Friday.

Whoa...calm down there big fella. There's always more numbers behind the numbers. 12.9mpg was one of approximately 60 fillups. The next worse is 13.6. An keep in mind, these were obtained during 100% city driving...in rush hour traffic. It's the same driving that my Contour was getting about 14mpg in. So add 100 HP and a better air conditioner (Atlanta summers...the A/C is always on) and it's not that bad. The 26 mpg are "entirely" highway miles...very little if any traffic.

I'm getting over 21mpg on average for daily driving of mostly freeways with about 5% city speeds, but quite a bit of traffic in the afternoons. This is Houston, A/C is on pretty much the entire time.

Just did a 400 mile mini vacation loop and got 23.9. Can't get better no matter how I drive.
