Most insurance companies replace cracked windshields for free. Mine cracked years back, didnt even have to pay my deductable.
Thanks a lot for the info & the linky.
FYI I called my agent from AllState and he told me that I have to pay the deductible. I have a feeling he's just trying to stick it to me.. I will call them again and ask to speak to someone in upper management to discuss this.

I think I paid a $100 deductible on my cracked windshield, they came out to me and replaced it in a couple of hour while I worked

I used to have Allstate several years back and they required me to pay the regular deductible when I needed to replace the windshield here in PA.Originally Posted by J2S2M

I love Florida, how many places other than Florida do they just replace your windshield for free?

i live in florida and i have a crack on my windshield...will call my insurance company soon and update and let you guys know what they say
UPDATE: I just contacted my insurance company and they told me that Allstate requires that I pay my deductible which is $500 to replace windshield.
Does anyone else have Allstate and have any experience with getting their windshield replaced?

If you have "comprehensive" coverage in your insurance plan, you are most likely covered for the windshield crack. Check your policy or call your agent. The "comprehensive" option might have a different or even a no-deductable.
One option that a lot of insurance companies use is the epoxy filler on small cracks (usually about the size of a quarter or smaller) depending upon the location. The epoxy fix is very effective. I have had it done on several of my cars. Never had the crack propagate. Good Luck!!

correct, it would go under comprehensive coverage. my comprehensive deductible is $100 for that reason... with $500 deductible you're pretty much screwed.

Imo take a long time and review your coverage. If you have a $500 comprehensive plan, then you might want to think about changing that...A *lot* of things can happen to a car. I have 0 comp and 100 collision =\
^ Thanks for the advice.
I actually contacted AllState again today and was able to get them to arrange a repair w/o the deductible. However, if I want the windshield to be replaced, they would require me to pay the deductible. Since it's just a small damage, I think a repair should be fine. Got my appointment @ SafeLite Autoglass tomorrow. Hope the repair goes well.
Thank you all for the advice & the concerns!

Is there a difference b/w regular deductible and comprehensive deductible?
