I had steam coming from my engine through the grill too. It was raining and I just arrived at my friend's house. It's normal guy. Don't worry.

This morning it rained for the first time since I bought it. A heavy, heavy rain. I had been sitting in traffic for an hour and when I got to the parking lot at work I drove through a ton of standing water. I parked the car, turned it off, and noticed smoke coming from the hood. My oil temperature gauge was spot on on the middle, and no other warning lights were on. I got out of my car and after a minute or so it had tapered off to nothing.

Was this simply the cool rain evaporating? I don't know why the engine would be smoking already for no reason. It wasn't blue or black, but white in color.

Help!
Next time pay close attention to where it is coming from the hood. Lift the hood and see if you can spot it.

Most likely you just got water up into the engine bay by driving through the standing water.

However I had one car that had the drain holes plugged for the air intake to the defroster/heater. Usually nothing would occur after a heavy rain other than sometimes steaming when stopped, but sometimes it would cause the windshield to fog up if you hit a bump which apparantly dumped water onto the heater core. Keep the area around the air intake clear of leaves (in my case it seemed to be mostly pine needles).

I went through a touchless car wash, the steam was coming out of the engine hood like crazy, it also happened when it was raining hard the last couple of weeks.

I had 1st gen G35, Integra, Maxima, E92 M3, GST....none of the cars I had gives out such heavy steam.....I don't get it.
