Glad your family is ok! Be sure to take your wife to the doctor with her arm.

BTW, did you have the tech package with the pre-crash seat belts?

Wow.. that sucks.
Glad they're okay.

Most injuries in these types of accidents are caused by the jewelry (bracelets, watches, glasses) worn when the airbags come out and hit them.
I assume that's what happened to the wife's arm?

Wouldn't have done much good here. They only work when they sense an accident coming (through the ICC sensor).
Accidents from behind wouldn't benefit from the system.

Thanks for all the support!

The Infiniti bodyshop mentioned a similar crash was about $14k in damage...and they didn't total the vehicle. In fact, he said since the G's hold their value pretty well, they hardly ever total them if there is a chance of fixing it.

I think the wife's arm may have gotten blasted by the seat airbag but not sure....

Shop says it will be about a 3 week repair. Guess we should've gotten that rental reimbursement coverage I always decline!

Thanks again for all your kind words
-Wes

good to hear everyone is safe, as that's the only thing that matters. Does anyone know what it takes to deploy the side airbags? I recently had an accident, car spun out (yes VDC was on) and the rear slid between two trees, both rear doors / quarter panels got pushed in real bad however no airbags deployed

i was in similar situation except not only I had rear damage like yours, my front end was also damaged, airbag didn't pop but still insurance company estimated $15500 before they even begin the repair. hope the your shop is good. I didn't bother fixing mine . . . good luck.

You don't have them in the 07

In 07, the Tech pack gave us ICC, Adaptive Headlights and the Backup Camera
In 08, they moved the backup camera to the Navi package and brought in the pre-tensioning seat belts to the Tech Pack

Basically, the ICC sensor is always on. If the car senses a collision that will not be avoidable, it primes the brakes to be much more affective when you hit them, but in 08's, it also takes up slack and locks the front seat belts.
Both the 07 and 08 sense for incoming collisions, but only 08 has the pre-tensioners

Well, the estimate came in.

$14,333!!

Body shop says it will take 3 weeks to fix and they guarantee the repair for lifetime of the vehicle.

Any suggestions on what to check for when I get it back (besides paint, body lines, no vibrations, etc...)??

I'll have to treat her to a claybar/zaino job when she comes back.

I know it would be better if it were just a total loss, but after protecting my wife and 2 kids I intend to keep it around for a while.
