So I took my 08 (18k miles) in b/c of highway brake judder. There is a TSB on this so apparently it is a common issue. They gave me an 2010 G37 loaner and here are my quick thoughts (some of which relate to the changes made in 09 to the engine)

1. I LOVE what they did to the automatic gear shift area. Very sleek. Makes mine look really plain jane now.

2. I like the front end reworking. For some reason it reminds me a little of Lightening McQueen (yes, I have a six y/o boy).

3. I don't like the extra gear shifting from the newer 09/10 auto engine compared to my 08. Feels unneccessary and bothersome.

4. I like the change of the door control panel material. The 07/08 scratches like a mother.

5. I hate that they still have not fixed the material used in the dash and the seats for the 2010. The dash will invariably warp and the seats will look like crap.

With regards to my brake work. I am ticked that they did not replace the rotors and simply machined them instead. This means that the next time I need a brake job (outside the warranty period) I am more likely to need new rotors.

 

What about performance of the 2010 compared to the 08? Those extra 23hp, is it a big difference?

 

No difference at all, which goes with what I read. The extra horsepower just makes up for the extra gears (for gas mileage).

With regards to handling, it really wasn't fair because mine has the 18's and this one had the standard 17's - very "floaty" feeling.

 

Is that the only thing they did with the TSB?

My brakes are OK at 18K miles except a slight lurching feeling at very low speeds with light brake pressure. If I do ask for the brakes to be checked for the TSB I want to time it right and hopefully get new rotors and/or pads.

 

I hear ya I took mine in for the shake and those idiots just turned them as well so there sqeaking now. When I got it back you can still see the hot spots on the rotors but the service advisor supposedly guarantees the work for 12 months and its only a matter of time before they get worse.

 

1, Love it too Even when you are in M mode and you slowing down without the brake it won't change. However if you hit the brake it starts downshifting to keep you in the right gear. Surprisingly it was always in the right gear.Loved it.

3, I think that just due to the less rpm range. 07-08 lets you go pass redline and the 7 speed won't let you. You should not use the 6-7 in city at all. I don't think it will let you anyways since can't get them under 1800rpm/low spped.

4, Door panel was already changed to different materila in mid 08. My 07 had crappy one what you have and my 08 is the good stuff. There are also some softer materials in the 2010.

5, I have no comment on that since I hgad no issue with my 07 or 08.

IOt feels faster than my 07 and 08.

 

Guess what? It will come back and when you bring your car back they will try to machine it for the 2nd time (like they did mine). Did they install the splash guard as per TSB? I was furious but already had aftermarket rotors/pads on order so decided not to bother given how much aggravation the judder issue already caused me. Absolutely insist that dealer replace the rotors once judder returns (supposedly, replacement rotors are different/better).

I had an '09 loaner yesterday and agree with you regarding the unnecessary shifting. One thing in '09 that was pleasantly missing was the hesitation in 38-40 mph range that I and other complained about.

 

They did install the splash guards. I have about a year and a half left on my warranty and I am sure that if it is going to mess up again, it will by then and I will most definetely demand replacing.

 

I have an appointment to get the splash guards installed tomorrow morning. I went last week and they had ordered the wrong parts, so all they did was turn the rotors. I have already ordered Rotora drilled/slotted rotor for all four wheels and Stoptech pads. I wanted to get the splash guards installed before I put the new rotors and pads on. Forgot to add second time I have had the rotors turned by Infiniti for brake judder, the first time I didn't know about the service bulletin and I don't think the dealer did either. The OEM rotors are garbage.

 

Same here, go the TSB done. Re-surfaced rotors & new pads in the front

They got on resurfacing the rears as well, not free = $200

I have 22.5K(hopefully i am still cover under warranty) miles on my G35x and the brake judders at 70mph. Can you please advice me the TSB you used so i can download it and print it out for the infiniti stealership. Did you have to pay for anything? Is the link from pennywise the same TSB?

They installed the front splash guards, installed new brake pads at all four corners and turned all four rotors. This was all free under warranty.

 

Pennywise... Do i have to print out both A and B of the bulletin? (printer is out of inK!)

 

Just picked up my car to get the brake shudder fixed. Cut all four rotors, all good now. They loaned my a G37, it 'feels' noticeably quicker, especially in 1st and 2nd, than my 6mt sedan.

 

I would printout both service bulletins and bring them with you. The first service person I spoke to down here in Miami said there was no such service bulletin for the 07-08 G35. long story short he was totally unprofessional to me, so I got the service manager's phone number and he looked up the service bulletin. He gave me VIP service after that, they count on you backing down and I don't back down.
