noob: Talk to me Goose G35s 411

Just picked up a used 2008 G35s sedan 6mt.
black on black with chrome wheels.

wtt the chrome wheels out for something else.

Certainly want a cat back eshaust to get some more growl.

Being I come from BMW, Audi and VW cars a few questions....

Do I do a full back exahsut ?
Do I do a set of CAI's ?
Do I do a tune, is it worth it ?

What would you do to simply, subtly mod this car with me.

Other little things I need to know about ?

Please feel free to tell me about it.

thanks and it's great meeting you all.

Kurt

Hey... welcome to the forum.
You're the only one who can answer these questions. It all depends on what you want out of your car? Are you looking for more power or just a sound?

A full cat-back will give you more growl (amount depending on the system) and will provide you with a bit of a performance boost. An axle-back will also supply the sound with no real gains to speak of.
HFCs will enhance the growl a bit more and provide a bit more in terms of performance.
Intakes also give more growl at WOT but don't offer enough in gains to mention it.
Tunes are worth it, after you have finished with your other mods... exhaust, intakes, HFC's, etc. You'll get a bit more power and maybe even enjoy a few extra MPG while you're at it. Getting the tune before your breather mods wouldn't make as much sense.

totally agree with Aeson,

personally I would recommend, full axle-back exhaust with HFCs

CAIs and then go for a tune. You won't gain any crazy power, but expect something around 10-20hp gain. Every car is different so some give more some less and then it all depends on what dyno you go to.

On a side not I'm a VAG man myself , or at least used to be, enjoy the forum it's wicked

Welcome! I would recommend starting out with a catback exhaust, maybe go with the FI exhaust and hope by then FI will release their long awaited long tube headers so you can bypass the cats and get some good gains, and then get some good intakes and a tune. Top it off with a set of nice wheels and lip.

BTW i checked out your sig site and you've really got some talent with the camera in your hand, cant wait to see some inspirational photography of the G soon!

Thanks guys.
I know Tony and the boys at FI as they used my old 335 to prototype on.
I'll go with them for sure.

Wheels and CBE probably immediately.

Then cai, HFCs and tune.

Where/Who for a tune in So Cal /SFV ??

Can't wait to shoot my G.

Not in Boston anymore. In LA.
Work on movies/tv etc.

Gotta get back to work now. The Jonas Bros are waiting. ;-)

Yes the Jonas Bros.
Just finished up Cold Case and jumped onto this show until mid May.

No shark. It's a dolphin. Everyone just thinks it's a shark.
