Are you sure it automatically biases to the rear? I'd heard of doing something similar on the Murano but that biases to FWD.

No such luck on an 07+ Sedan, only on 1st gens

The fuse is only on the 1st gen sedans. On the second gens we have it permanantly.

My G needed new rear brakes recently at 32,000 km. Seemed very early to me but the dealer said it was normal. Did the brakes myself and it was very simple. I was wondering if anyone knows if the VDC causes excess rear brake wear; if so I will be turning it off unless it is heavy rain or snow of course.

You bet, VDC stops the rear from slipping out by applying brakes to the spinning wheel/s.

Such a p.i.t.a to turnoff VDC everytime you getin the car. I have slid my rear without VDC in dry weather. (I have an X)

Driving with the VDC off all the time seems about as smart as driving around without a seatbelt on, and figuring you can just buckle up if you see someone about to hit you.

You can shut off the VDC when you feel like screwing around, but I don't understand why someone would want it off all the time, especially in rain/snow. It's one button, if you feel like sliding around then turn it off... have your fun, and turn it back on.

The KPtechnologies module actually supports this ^^^^^ It is not a "default off" module it is a memory module. If you turn VDC off it will stay off until you turn it back on, regardless of how many times you restart the car. However, once you turn it back on it will stay on until you turn it back off. The SM20 module simply eliminates the reset function of the VDC system.

So have I. Actually forgot I had turned it off and I'm pulling out of the parking lot. Some jerk pissed me off and I hit the gas around the corner. The back end came out but it was very controlled and cool.

I bought my 07 G35X early in the year (my first all wheel) but have not tried driving in the snow really due to my not so great tires (wanted to wait until later in the year to spend on the new tires).
While I was at the dealer, I got to talking to one of the technicians about how to drive in the snow and he basically told me to try with the VDC off and SNOW button on.... Apparently, according to him, the SNOW button will force the distribution to be 50/50 up until 40 mph, instead of the normal 20mph. Not sure of his logic about VDC off though...

Will try it this winter.

As usual, information from a dealer/tech is very wrong and misleading.
1. In winter, on snow, VDC is more important than the snow button. Please leave it on.
2. The snow button will force a 50/50 but up to 12mph (20km/hr) not 40mph

The only time you would want to turn off the VDC in the snow would be if you are stuck in it. Then you can rev the engine and spin the tires a little to help get unstuck.

If you are in a snowy region get yourself some winter wheels and tires and you will feel like you're in a tank, lol

Thanks for the info RPM... I live in DC area, so last winter was quite challenging for any vehicle.

I do agree a good set of tires (winter or all season) can make a huge difference. I think I am gonna have to search this site for some good ideas on decent tires.
