Stock car a little loud

A good friend of mine has a 2007 G5X and he feels it's too loud for him. Is there anything he can do to make it quieter?

I feel that the stock 2nd gen sedans are very tame & quiet compared to the older G's.

IMO G35 coupe is the loudest > G37 coupe > 1st gen sedan > 2nd gen sedan being the quietest.

That's the impression I got too. If he thinks the G is loud, the cold start on my 3 would literally KILL him lol.

If you are lookin for a quiet ride, should have gotten a Lexus. G is more of a raw sports sedan than a refined luxury car like a Lexus.

I was actually going to say a Caddy CTS. The 3.6 is closer in performance than the Lexus, and comes with All Wheel Drive.

All while still being quiet.

Aren't there dampeners though, or something like that go on louder aftermarket units?

I think the cts is a nice car, but I would go for the es over just for the resale value and bullet proof reliability. Maybe he should drive both to see what will be the best fit. I bought my g for the sound it makes so I'm a little biased. And I have a long time Audi driver, the fit and finish doesn't compare but this is a fun car to drive BMW like with reliability.

hahahaha that's what I was gonna say! ROFLOL that's too funny ijahman!!
Too loud with everything stock???? What is he 50 year old man? He is definitely driving the wrong car! Tell him to look into Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln Towncar, Mercedes, or some sort of that class. The Infiniti G class sounds like isn't his type of class. Maybe he might like the M class better, but he needs a little more $$$$

I envy the sound of the G35 Coupe and FX35.

^ +1 that sound is just perfect, but at times i savor the sound of the FI which is quiet at low rpms and great at high rpms

I recommend the Greg Lecewicz technique. drill some symmetrical holes in the intake tubes and the catback
