I brought my car today to the dealer for several reasons:

1. Nonfunctioning Tachometer (see thread below)
2. Nonfunctioning airbag sensor- When my friend sits in the front seat (weights 170 lbs) sometimes the airbag off light is on.
3. Rattle behind the sunroof- Sometimes I have to place my hand on that area behind the sunroof to stop the creaking/rattling noise in my car.
4. The brakes seem to squeal at low speeds, even if I have driven it for a while after starting in the morning. The previous dealer cleaned off the brake dust, but the problem came back one day later.
5. Raise the headlights- The dealer gave me a loaner 2010 g37x sedan to drive, and I noticed that the headlights are significantly higher, and I was able to see further than my car. I wonder if the headlights can be raised in my car. (I have the tech package with AFS)

Overall thoughts on the 2010 G37x Sedan compared to the 2007 G35x sedan:

The acceleration is not as peppy as my 2007 g35x sedan. As I recall, Infiniti has toned down acceleration and reprogrammed ECU 2008 models and later. The engine noise is much quieter, and the exhaust note is very toned down. I prefer my own sedan. The exhaust note sounds more like the g37 coupe on my car than the g37x sedan. The backup camera on the new g37x does not have the "yellow predicted lines" when you put the car in reverse. My 2007 g35x sedan did (had the tech package). The new redesign for the front looks good, but the rear bumper is seriously uglier. It looks more boxy, and the bumper is not as "curvy" as the previous design. The steering wheel is not as stiff as my car, (dunno why). I do prefer the steering wheel design to be stiffer (more sporty). The 7 speed transmission seems to be more sluggish than my 5 speed 2007 g35x. It seemed like it needed to search for the right gear.

I also just realized the backup camera is different than my Infiniti G35x (tech package)...the backup camera distorted the video of the cars- they look taller and thinner (unproportional)...maybe the lens is different? The 2007-2008 G35x's backup camera had more proportional images than the 2010 G37x backup camera.

Overall, I feel like the previous generation (2007-2009 G35x and G37x) to be better in terms of driving and other features. I'm not sure if the 2009 g37x features were the same as 07 and 08, but I remember driving that car too, with the same gear searching problem.

I also had a 2010 loaner, my review would be a bit different.
Mine did have the yellow lines that move with the steering wheel on the backup camera.
It was quicker then my 08, especially noticeable at higher rpms.
Didn't like the trans at first, it would hunt for the right gear too much. I reset the ECU and beat on it a bit and it fixed the problem, I'm guessing it adapted to someone driving like a grandma. The one one I drove had more engine noise then mine, exhaust was about the same maybe a little louder.

I love what they did to the center console, my 08 seemed cheap when I got it back.

 

Is there a reason why they give you guys a newer model? To trade in maybe. lol. I gonna take my car to the dealer for the first time in a week. How much is the service on it? I gotta do a 3,000 service. I got my car with 17,000. It's gonna have 20,000 soon.

 

Did yours have the navigation package? My loaner only just had the premium package. I'm guessing that the navigation package had the yellow lines that moved with the steering wheel...The loaner I drove had the red, yellow, and green dotted lines as spacers. It also had bumper sensors. Yeah, I'm not sure about the exhaust...everyone who commented on my car said my engine was louder compared to the other g35's they've driven...so maybe it's just my car's engine being loud? The exhaust note on my car was definitely louder and more purr than the loaner (the loaner was newer, so maybe that's why it was quieter? It only had 5k miles on it.) I like the center console better on the loaner, but I found where they put the ashtray slightly awkward.

I also found that I like the 17 inch rim design on the 2007-2009 models more than the 2010 model...

 

Any time you get a loaner from a higher end dealership (Lexus, Infiniti, BMW), they loan you a car that is the newest model or last year's model...
Infiniti service is pretty expensive, IMO not worth it unless it's a major service done (30k, 60k, 90k, etc)

I have never done any major service on my g35x only because if you look at what they do, most of the time is checking belts and cables, etc...very few items are replaced (oil change, cabin air filter, engine air filter). In the end, you can DIY in less than 30 minutes. For oil changes, I just go to my local shop for $18.99. When I bought the car, Infiniti dealer told me I don't need to get it serviced because most of the time they're just checking pipes and belts and not doing a lot of replacing. The dealer told me I don't really need to ever do any major servicing if I don't want to, as long as I do my regular maintenance (oil changes, air filters, and make sure the fluid levels are right). When you get your oil change, most shops will tell you if you need anything done to the vehicle.

 

The one I had did not have nav, it was an X, it had the back up sensors also.

I didn't notice they moved the ash tray, I have no use for one. I really liked how the cup holder cover was leather and flowed with the armrest. The leather seemed softer than mine.

 

i think u r biased in ur review. The 2010 model is a moderate improvement over 2007.

 

Several runs of my g35x '07 and g37x '09 showed that they have similiar acceleration with no winner! Gear hunting and lighter steering wheel are the main issues in '09-'10 G37, those who like spirited driving would prefer '07 model. Though '09-'10 have better MPG (but I don't care of it )

 

The '09 coupe I drove (non-x) when I was searching had the predictive lines that moved. Awesome feature.

I prefer the interior (especially doors) on my 05 sedan to the newer ones, but I prefer the finish on the aluminum in the new ones.

The multi-colored dash I can do without, subtle monochromatic amber's more my style. The '09 I drove still had the delivery tape stuff stuck to it, so I guess it hadn't learned to be a G(randma)37 yet, it wasn't hunting for gears when I punched it around a turn at all.

In the end, I couldn't justify paying another 14 grand over what my '05 cost for it. Not in the least. My '05 still felt like a new car and to be honest, the difficulty of getting rid of the $h1tty bose in the '07+ just made me not want to do it.

well , my friend who drove both cars (mine and the loaner) also thought that the acceleration on mine was better. The 2010 g37 sedan's acceleration was smoother at the start, while mine was more jerky. Like I said, the new ECU update for 2008 models and above dampened the acceleration.

Also, if you look at the specs for STOCK 2007 g35x and STOCK 2010 g37x, both have the same numbers for 0-60 acceleration...and since g37x has higher hp, that kind of doesn't make any sense...

If anything, if the 2010 g37x does beat the 2007 g35x, it is very negligible at most (0.10 seconds), according to some reports. But like I said, I'm not sure if the 7-speed transmission causes the acceleration to slow down a bit (more shift shock)

 

Its all trivial....

 

Only thing I hated about the 09 g37 loaner I had was the light steering wheel.

 

I had a 2010 loaner also, and I agree, the acceleration in my 07' is a lot stronger. But I think it has to do with the sensitive throttle response in the '07. The big improvement is he 2K10 model is a lot smoother, I have the same vibration problem that we have all read about at low speeds (40mph uphill, etc).
