Thumbs up Just bought my new G35x: Quick Questions

Well I am proud to say that I have bought myself a 2007 Infiniti G35X. So far absolutely no complaints about the car. I love it. Only thing is I think the inside paint is cheap. Everything wants to peel. I read this is an issue with the 2007's. Any ideas on a cheap fix?

A little about me. I'm 21 and currently a student at the University of Toledo majoring in Pre-Medicine. I work at the main hospital downtown as a pharmacy technician. I am coming from (2005-2006) 1996 GMC Jimmy, (2006-2008) 1999 Honda Accord EX, and (2008-Present) 2005 Subaru Legacy GT. I've always wanted something luxurious with a sporty feel. I personally am not a fan of the BMW interiors so I decided to go with the Infiniti. I love my Subaru but I feel like the G35X is a tad bit bitter with many more features. This forum looks great, I came from LegacyGT.com. I hope this is as helpful as that one was with me the last two years. I look forward to learning about this car and I thank everyone in advance with bearing with me. lol I will be asking a lot.

Another question: The car needs some tires. I'm looking into getting the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A. $650 out the door with a free alignment (steering wheel isn't straight) Any suggestions? Thanks!

First off Welcome! As far as the steering wheel and interior door trims, it is a known defect...i think i can safely say that almost all of us who went to Infiniti and complained about the steering wheel and door trims peeling have gotten them replaced under warranty. as for the tires, seems reasonable, just checked on tire rack which has very competitive prices and they have them for $504 but then you have to worry about the install...and then its about another $40 for an alighnment so i would say go for it for $650..

Welcome to the forum!

If your alignment is fine then it possible someone has removed the steering wheel and put it back on a little off center?
Just a thought...do you by chance have paddle shifters? Some guys install them by themselves and don't always get the steering wheel back on straight. It should be an easy fix that you may be able to do yourself. Here is a DIY for removing the steering wheel and adding paddle shifters.
Don't forget to post pics...we like pics!

Welcome to the site! You made a good choice with the G35. I too have a 07 'x' sedan and its approching the one year anniversary and I love it. The previous poster is correct on the arm rest issue and it being something they will replace under warranty (also the steering wheel I have heard) - assuming you still have warranty time left! Mine is peeling so I plan to make an appointment to break the bad news to my dealer ASAP as my warranty is done on August 31. I haven't found anyone in Canada who has had this done here without an arguement so hopefully there is no issue. Another issue to watch with the car is the back brakes - you will find they wear out quickly - a victim of th VDS system I believe. I had to do them at 30,000 km (about 20,000 miles)!! I try to keep the VDS off now most of the time unless its bad weather. I generally find the stock brakes (non brembo) are a bit under powered especially for high speed stops. You already know about the less than great mpg but then again this is the price you pay for performance. The car is also pretty hard on tires so I have heard. Anyhow enough said, welcome to the site and good luck in your future career 'doctor'!

Now with this warranty thing, does mileage affect it or is it just a yearly thing? I have 63000 on it and want to see if it'll get covered still.

Not too sure for US cars in Canada the bumper to bumper is limited to 3 years\ 60,000 km so if you have 63,000 miles and the US warranty is similar to CAN I would guess your out of waranty. Check the information in the owners manual though.

I haven't found that to be the case on my car... in fact master fluid level has basically stayed on full. I did have some warping on front rotors that dealer turned according to a TSB a month or so ago. They also installed some additional shields that are part of the TSB.
