Random thoughts & observations

Instead of posting several worthless threads, i thought of just consolidating it into one semi-worthless thread.
  • Both headlamp assemblies, bulbs and all, were just replaced. Old one had 50k miles on them. The new bulbs are *noticeably* brighter. Replace bulbs every 50k?
  • A G37 journey loaner automatically locked doors beyond 5mph, that was a surprise
  • Same loaner, the large dash screen totally washes out when wearing polarized glasses
  • Again, same loaner, that 7AT is funky compared to my 5AT. Shift and throttle-lag is noticeable (especially take-off from a full stop). It's also fairly aggressive with downshifts, to the point that at times it feels i'm using engine braking more than the actual brakes.
  • Again, same loaner, the interior door trim is better than the original 07 trims in terms of scratch-resistance, but now it just looks like cheap textured plastic.
  • I bought a 2" x 1" piece of wood from a hobby store, drilled a hole, put a keyring on it then used 3M commander strips to attach it to my keyfob. A lot of local shops don't like it if you give them the keyfob without a ring on it. This solves the problem.
  • G37 has really touchy brakes, then again, could be the aggressive downshifts contributing to it
  • Why do new problems develop after a car is brought in to a shop to service other things? (I, for one, started getting an annoying wind howl/whistle after this recent visit).
  • It's true what they say, newer VQ's feel rougher than VQ's of yore.

That is all, for now.

My 08 G35 screen does the same thing when wear polarized glasses.

They should go back to a 3.0 VQ based on the HR with factory TT's. Maybe even the VQ25HR might work. Torque and fuel economy in one swoop

Maybe it is bulb manufacturer's recommendation, but I have heard you should replace them every year.

My 08' (May 08' build) doesn't have any problems with my polarized oakleys
