Certified is usually the way too go if the cost makes sense. Did they tell you what they are doing for $1000?
Can you get your hands on the car and take it to your own mechanic. Maybe it doesnt need a $1000 to certify.
Certifying isn't like a warranty it just means it passed the minimum inspection requirements to make it legal. If the transmission falls out a certification isn't going to help you. With only 25k miles on her, you have a factory warranty for that.
That being said, I would never buy a car this new unless it was certified or I new ahead, exactly what it needs to get it certified on my own.

It also means that the warranty goes beyond the factory 50K, don't know the specific number as yet. I will find out all details.

How much better is the Manufacturers lower APR. Is it going to save you more than a $1000 over the term. If so then definitely do it for that reason. If not then the $1000 is better off in your own pocket.
I guess if you don't have your own mechanic you are sort of at their mercy with regards to what the cost of certification should be for this car. To be fair I think you should have the right to ask what is costing $1000.
Are you saying that if they certify it they automatically extend the warranty?

I went for the CPO for the extended warranty, and the much lower interest rates (at that time, it ranged from 1.99% for 36 months to 3.59% for 60 months).

Now you cleared it up for me. You meant CPO. Thats different than what I thought you meant in the original post when you asked "Is it worth it to have it certified". To me there is a difference. I think of plain old 'certified' in the same light as a safety check. When people sell cars in Canada they often refer to them as 'certified/safetied' or 'as is'. Hence my misunderstanding.
CPO looks like a good option. A few years or 75,000 miles of added warranty for $1000. You cant really go wrong.

I have a friend who is currently looking at used G's and he has been told that they wll only cut $300 off the price of a certified pre-own if he opts to drop the certified warranty... seemed shady to me.
CPO is a better option than a third-party extended.
Don't fall for one of those.
