Anybody else get grief from friends for buying a Japanese car?
I keep getting grief from some of my friends for buying japanese. I even had one guy imply that I was un-American. If anyone knows me, they know that I am 100% proud American...served in the Army, very patriotic...had my share of old American muscle cars.
Anyone else get the "business" on buying japanese?

Everyone loves my car. They'll probably talk isht if I bought an American car haha. Don't let them get to you. They're just bring ignorant when it's established that Japanese cars are built better and more reliable
To some extent it will occur depending on where in the states you are. If you are in the south or middle america, you tend to get that (from personal experience). In you are on the East or West coast, you will rarely hear it.

My girl likes American cars but slowly Im turning her over to the Japanese side. Imagine having to help a girl who is part Japanese appreciate what her countrymen build haha.
We had a Malibu for a rental last week and we both hated it.
Also it seems that more Japanese and foreign company's in general are putting Americans to work. I know GM has some factories in Canada so Im not sure how buying a Canadian built American car helps this country. I guess maybe in the GM bottom line but not so much help as far as Americans having jobs. I watched a show on the BMW Z series cars and was shock when I was it is built here and then exported throughout the world. Again putting Americans to work.

I get it all the time... Funny thing is, I got immediate family that work for GM. I drove a GMC Jimmy put it was crap... Bought a Honda Accord and loved it. From that went to a Subaru Legacy GT. Now I got the G35x. I get grief from my family all the time. "You don't support the family" "You're gonna put us out of work" I just think it's personal taste. The closest thing to the G35x to me thats made by GM is the Cadillac CTS. I like that car, but to me it's too small and it loses it's value way too fast. I also have a friend that refuses to let me park on his driveway because my cars aren't American... I mean I know the G35x is assembled in Japan but the Accord and Legacy I had were both assembled in Ohio and Indiana. Doesn't that make them American? Since American's are putting them together? I don't understand how people can give us grief. I mean look at the Chevy Avalanche. That's assembled in Mexico. I think technically that would make it Mexican since it's not the American workforce thats putting it together...
