Newbie to the Forum 08 G35xs
Recently purchased a 2008 G35xs Lakeshore Slate sedan and absolutely love it! I have owned many cars over the years and have primarily been an Audi fan. Came from a 05 A4 Quattro 3-Point-Slow and never looked backed. I drive AWD cars since I live in W. Michigan on the lakeshore and we get anywhere from 70" to 110"+ of snow every year. Love the fact that this car drives and handles like RWD most of the time. Huge difference in handling from the front-heavy Quattro. Anyway I just wanted to say hello and I will post some pics soon.
Thanks! I just noticed I have a typo in my color. I meant BLUE Slate not Lakeshore. Some things I have noticed since owning it:
The Good:
-Love the body design
-Love the sport seats and paddle shifters
-Excellent handling with the 18" rims (perfect blend ride vs. handling)
-Plenty of HP. Every time I hit the gas it makes me smile.
-Larger backseat than my A4
-Tech package is nice
-My insurance actually went down from my A4. (Strange)
-Not many in area and the "S" even more rare by me
-Decent MPG. I avg. 21mpg which is about what I was getting in my 3-point-slow. I do have twin K&N's in it which I do think help a little.
The Bad:
-Cheap paint and scratches way to easily
-No fold down back seats
-CD Changer in Trunk should not even be there
-Not quite as quiet or smooth when reved to higher rpm's vs. the A4 but I knew that already.
-Wood trim wood have been a nice option w/ Sport Package but was not available.
-Personally think a 6-speed trans would be perfect. Current 5-speed is great but needs one more cog for an overdrive to get lower rpm/better mpg. I have driven a 2009 with the 7-speed and personally like my 08 better. The 09 seems to hunt for gears more.
I knew what I was buying and had researched a lot on this car. I personally think this is the best 4-door sports sedan for the money that can haul adults and kids and be a practical car and road rocket at the same time. Did I say how much I love this car? You know you like your car when you go to an Audi dealership with a friend who is looking, sit in the new S4 and TT and have no desire to part with the "G".

See that... you only have two posts and you've already upgraded your color LOL
Nice color choice.

I wish I had this car in high school. Girls would just flock to the car. Believe it or not, it was in a law school parking structure that has cameras. The security guard said he didn't see anything. That's Detroit for you....
Sorry to hear about that. Sucks when people do idiotic damage like this. A neighbor of mine has a late 90's BMW Z3 and came out of a bar with his wife a few weeks back to find the passenger door kicked in. Even has the tread pattern from the boot on the door. Ridiculous...
well where are you looking to get it painted and how much did they quote?

Now I wanna get my whole car repainted. I wish it wasn't so expensive.
