rubber on all windows dissolving

Hi Guys, I have a 2007 g35 still under warranty. The rubber trim on the outside all windows is soft and sticky and cracking with the lightest touch. It is the seal that is attacked to the chrom trim. Has anyone experienced this? Is this considered a material defect covered under warranty?
Thanks,
Adil

The same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer and had them all replaced under waranty. Unfortunately now my waranty is up and I'm having the issue again.

What do you guys all have in common? I haven't had this issue.
Do you all park outside in the sun?

If it's not sun, the only other thing I can think of as a cause would be harsh chemicals.
Are you guys using drive thru or even self serve car washes?

I've got the same issue on my 08xS. I bought it used, so I don't know what kind of previous life it had. It's not real bad yet, but if it can be covered under warranty, why the hell not?
You think they'd cover it if it's not a certified used Infiniti?
Only about 25k miles on it.

Thanks Aeson. I just got back from the dealer. They will replace under warranty. Said there was a bulletin out for that.
Michael. Your car is under factory warranty unless you exceeded mileage. Unrelated to certified or not.
Greetings.

rubber/vinyl is tricky since it can react to a lot of agents and dry out or degrade. (not saying you don't have a legitimate warranty claim)

i use a silicone grease to go over all my seals and exterior rubber. silicone grease won't swell, soften or degrade rubber; has a wide temperature range (-40 to 400 °C), and lasts a long time. it also wont harm your cars finish, though it may be hard to remove from an unwanted surface, so i use care when applying. a thin coat, three/four times a year is what i do. (keeps the windows rolling up and down smoothly too.)

AdilSD- any knowledge on where the bulletin is for this? I can already see the dealer trying to deny this coverage.

Sorry , couldn't find a bulletin yet. I will let you know if there is any mention on the service write-up. In any case, on mine the rubber cold not be touched without leaving a mark. It has the consistency of fresh chewing gum. No denying faulty material.

well, mine is definetely not that bad, but still noticable. I called the stealer and they said to bring it in, should be covered under warranty and will provide me with a loaner. we'll see if they try to claim it's not covered once they look at it. will provide feedback as the situation unfolds.

Same thing here. They replaced it all under warranty. Also all the scratched inside parts, including replacing the whole steering wheel because of the small scratched parts on it.

I had a drivers side window seal replaced as it began peeling off the frame - but the rest of them are fine so far.
