Had the Garmin GVN52 gps blackbox hooked into my monitor but decided to try out the google navi and music streaming through my phone's tv/audio out.. I think that I will be uninstalling the Garmin and selling that now as it's all integrated in my phone..

So far, it has been working well, the audio is clear and good on bass. The video is slightly fuzzy because of the crap composite in. Overall, I'm happy with the setup.

 

Thats cool, thats one feature I would like to have on my epic, but you cant have everything.

 

Too bad there isn't a touch screen that you can use to command the phone...

 

That would be nice, but can't complain since it cost me all of $20 to do this setup. I'm already content that Infiniti even included an lcd display on a non-navi equipped car with rca inputs.

 

OMG sick... is that just your phone hooked up thru the standard RCA inputs in the center console? It only works when you're park I take it?

It works when I am driving as well.. but that's a mod I can't discuss here..

I had to purchase a phone specific cable for the HTC to enable the tv-out to work. I should've posted a disclaimer that only a few phones can output the actual phone display onto another screen including any apps you want to run. To my knowledge, only some HTC phones can do this right now. Phones like the iPhone can only output video from the video player, it will not output the phone's display nor will output video from apps such as navigation.

 

I didn't even think of plugging a GPS into the RCA's--and I'm in the market for a GPS for my car. Nice post!

 

Good job! I am thinking of getting the HTC Merge (VZW) which should come out in a week or so. Have the same we-can't-discuss mod as well, so will give a similar setup a shot

BTW, I think this is the cable that you have and so far only Droid Incredible supports this (there is a different cable for older HTC phones).

 

Where can I get a HDMI mini type D to rca cable? I want this setup with my Droidx!

 

What kind of mount do you have? I have a HTC EVO and wanted to mount it as well but not on the windshield.
