I live on the north side of Indianapolis and this is my experience. My local dealer will not replace my steering wheel. I haven't asked about the door pulls and feel there is no point in it due to the attitude of the service manager. The service manager there was even rude about it when I respectfully told him that it was a known manufacturing defect and dealers all over the country are replacing the steering wheels. His response was a very matter of fact "well I'm not one of them". He wanted to know how long I had owned the car and when I told him around 3 months he asked "was it like that when you bought it?" (I did not buy it from them due to their extraordinarily high prices on vehicles) When I told him yes but its gotten worse, he responded that who ever I bought it from must have done a poor job reconditioning it. (I bought it from the original owner and with the exception of the steering wheel the car is flawless and only has 20k miles on it!).
You would think that the service manager at an upscale dealership such as this would at least be respectful and not have such an arrogant attitude.
I guess I will have to contact Infinity and state my case to them in the hope that they will authorize replacement.

You should! That guy was rude. You took it pretty well b/c i would have gave attitude back and demand someone higher then him. Your a customer and he can't talk to you like that. He's suppose to take sh*t from us (not that we suppose to give him sh*t). Like i said early in my post on this page. For the door pulls i didn't want to run in that situation again. So i took them all off, sanded it down and took it to the paint shop and painted the same color as the car. It looks so much better.

I took my 07 in to Grubbs and asked about the wear on the door pulls. As service tech looked at mileage, he stated, " will order a new steering wheel as yours is wearing" in one spot. Surprised me a bit, but what I would expect from them.

Dealer did the replacement today. Got new front door pulls and a new steering wheel. Material is a bit different so expect it to last a longer time. I had an 09 plain G as loaner. Can say that they have made throttle response start from a stop a bit more smoother than my 07. Dealer did say I needed new air filters, new wiper blades and an oil change as my oil is dirty! I said no I do my own work. Saved $165.

JC in Bethesda, MD just replaced my steering wheel and door pulls no questions asked. The only issue is that the leather on the new wheel is almost gray, not black... not sure what to do about this... It's also a very dull finish as opposed to the shinier black finish it had before.

Should I complain?

Thanks
Sunil

Thanks. So, this is a common complaint? Is yours the same?

Yes... I remember reading on this forum that it would fade in time. It definitely feels different in a good way.

I got my steering wheel trim replaced. No luck on the door trim though, next time I will have to ask them to see if they can. My warranty unfortunately went away two months ago, so we will have to see whats up.
