Smoking coming out of vents when heat/defrost in on...
Hey team!
Sorry, my searching skills suck on this forum, couldn't find a past thread on this, so I started a new one...
So just recently, smoke is coming out of the vents when the heater is on. I am in Minnesota, so the temp is pretty low, but not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Has anyone else had issues with this? Could it be the heater core? I want to try to self-diagnose to see if I can fix it before getting jacked over by a mechanic ...what are some things I can check?
I did just replace the in-cabin microfilter last weekend thinking this was the problem, but it started smoking again after being clear for a week.
Thanks in advance everyone!!!!!

This is 100% normal where there are temperature variations and humidity. The "smoke" you are seeing is simply the humidity being vaporized and evacuated from the a/c/heating system as it begins operation.
I used to have this all the time when I lived in Texas and the A/C started on really hot/humid days.

yeah my old car did the whole vapor thing
but later on it started to leak oil and it would end up leaking on something really hot so when ever my car stopped smoke started to come out of the hood it got so bad to the point where someone ran in to the dunkin donuts that i was buying a coffee from and was like someones car is on fire! and it just smelled terrible
my car was a nissan pathfinder but its all fixed now and still running

well I get something similar, but with the AC on
I've owned my G for over 2.5 years and I've NEVER had to use the heater lol, because it's always soo god damn hot here .
Anyway, when it's realllllllly hot outside in summer I get "condensation mist" coming out of the vents sometimes, rarely happens but it does happen.

Yep, it was a bad heater core. Luckily we bought the extended warranty and it was all covered after the $100 deductible.
Now the question is, how much would've the heater core replacement cost? Supposedly it was labor intensive because we had the loaner for 3 days, first day for the heater core to be shipped in, 2nd and half of 3rd day before they called me to tell me the car was ready.
Still haven't recouped the cost of the extended warranty I don't think...
