Paint Chipping? Get a new Steering Wheel! but...

make sure they hook the cruise control back up.

I found out they screwed that one up on my 5 hour drive to Charlotte this weekend. True, things could be worse, but that's an insanely easy drive with cruise control. Without it...I was just happy it was over.

How are you getting them to replace it. They say it's chipping because of ring marks not a defect in paint

Ask them if that is the case why did infiniti switched to harder plastic in mid 08. My 07 was bad like that and I never had rings on my finger in my life. Most people have issue with it.

Well they are using harder plastic, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard they switched vendors on the '09 + models because of this issue.

And on top of all of that, you buy an Infiniti and pay a premium price for it, but they expect you to not wear jewelery in their cars because it causes damage?

Had my steering wheel replaced by the dealership under warranty, but they aligned it incorrectly and was tilted to the left, went back 2 times and hey still couldn't get it right, even after they performed an wheel alignment. I just took the steering wheel off and aligned it myself.

My steering wheel was put on crooked too! I went back and they said that it looked fine. That's because they didn't drive it and it's only a few degrees off. But when you drive it every day it will really **** you off. I'm taking James' advice and trying to align it myself.

Talking

I live in Dallas and took my 08 G35 in on Friday and go it back today. They replaced the:
Steering Wheel as the plastic or whatever would peel off by barely even nicking it with my nail.
Drivers Side "Window Trim" on the door because it would scratch so easily.
All Window Rubber Trim because the drivers side front and rear was looking like it was melting or disintegrating.
Dash Trim because it was lifting up due to a manufacturing defect.
Fixed the Right knee trim panel on drivers side because the clip or whatever behind it wasn't holding it down.

I wasn't asked one question by the service adviser, he just wrote down all the things that needed to be looked at and had all the work done without and question or comment that it could not be replaced.

i bought my '08 earlier this month used.. when the dealer was prepping my car for resale, they swapped out the door trim and steering wheel bc of these issues..

however, the shifter in the center is pretty scratched up on the middle metal portion.. has anyone had luck getting that replaced under warranty?
