I have this annoying ratting sound which happens whenever the car is in Drive/Neutral or even in Park. Its doesnt always happen but when it does, I usually hit the gas in Park or drive the car and it seems to go away (or maybe the engine noise just masks it when the car is driven). The car is no longer under warranty so I am debating whether to take it to the dealer or just have my local mechanic look at it. The noise is annoying, I can hear it inside the car and only when the RPMS are between Idle and 1000. I never hear that noise when I am on the highway or driving in general. Initially I thought it was something inside my car which was touching something and rattling but I ruled that out.

A little background on the car. The car has 63k miles, belts were replaced 20k ago and I have done the routine oil changes, differential oil change along with air filters. I did a tranny drain and refill 30k ago so I am sure I am due up for another one or I might just do a transmission flush from a nissan dealer.

Sounds normal to me. The fuel injectors and valvetrain tend to make those slight rattling/tapping sounds depending on the temperature of the engine.

 

The engine and other noises are masking it in that video. After researching that noise, I saw people who have bad idler/tensioner pulleys describe that noise.
