When buying a car from a dealer who might be guilty of selling salvage and unibody title cars, ask them to measure the paint thicknes right in front of you if they are claiming the car has never been in an accident. If they have nothing to hide, they should be able to do this without a problem. If they say they dont own a paint gauge, they are lying since every dealer in the world has one. If they measure the paint, and you see a discrepancy, the price can be negotiated downwards since the panel was obviously painted and most likely replaced. A clear carfax does not necessarily mean the car has never been in an accident, it jsut means the person never reported it. I go to a lot of wholesale auctions and dealers carry a paint gauge in each hand. If the gauge shows the same thickness all around, its probably original paint. If you see 6mm on the left quarter panel, 6mm on both left side doors, and then 14mm on the hood and all along the right side, you know the car was T-boned by a freight train, rebuilt, and repainted. Im not too sure how thick infiniti paint is, most factory paint is between 4-7mm, but youll know once you measure a few panels. Keep in mind, if each panel is reading a different number, run away and never look back, cuz you are dealing with the Mr. Potato head of G35's.

I do think the lower milage car is a good deal. Where is it located? I just got an 08 G35 sedan 5AT Journey with 34k miles, premium pkg, non-navi, with bose and it was 25k OTD. Still a bit under NADA value and being that its from a dealer I have tons of warranty, the remaining factory and all the goodies they do for you in the first 30 days to uphold their reputation. I may have been able to get it cheaper somewhere else but what I prefer is the peace of mind I have about where this car came from. Can't really put a price on that
