Angry WTF..Dealer put 1 wrong size tire on my car..could it be causing some of my issues?

The cars as you know call or a 225/55/17. I was out today checking pressure again and found out my drivers side rear tire is a 215/55/17 and everything else is a 225/55/17. WTF. Called them and i am going to stop by tomorrow. Could this be causing my uneven wear?

Still doesn't explain the steering wheel vibrations at highway speed and whining noise i am hearing and feeling at low/high speeds but maybe when i stop in if i complain some more to their manager i can get a new set. I can only hope.

If they only order 1 new tire and the other tires are uneven, will it ride even ****tier than now?

I am reading that 1 wrong tire on an AWD car can cause transmission problems...this true?

Go to the dealer and demand four new tires. While the size difference is not that great, it can still cause uneven and unecissary wear. You would have dash lights if the AWD didnt like it. If they give you any **** explain to them this is a safety issue as well as potentially damaging to the drivetrain. They shouldnt be giving you any trouble for their mistake. If they continue to fight call Infiniti consumer affairs and report the issue.

So if i am not having any lights or warnings on the car the trans and differential is probably okay?

I am reading online that different circumference tires can hurt the differential but i don't know if that's true or not.

I do notice that my slip light comes on when i accelerate hard sometimes..wonder if that has to do with different sizes.

You're off by only about 1.6% on that smaller tire, it's well within the 3% margin of error generally accepted for size differences, and is likely why you're not getting any lights.

There's still no good reason as to why you have one smaller tire though.

Edit: There's a 5.5mm difference between the two, so in a way it's like running a new tire at full tread depth and one that's halfway gone.

how long have you been driving on these tires? I doubt its doing anything serious since the size difference is only 1.6% and the AWD system allows some tolerance.

Just call up the dealer and get new tires.

Depending upon how long the tires have been on the car, I doubt they'll be willing to replace all four, but you should not be shy to ask for some form of compensation for their mistake, like maybe a minor service item.

they should replace them all because you shouldnt throw a fresh tire in with 3 worn ones, espcially with AWD. If he was RWD, I'd expect at least 2 new tires. Even the dealer or a tire shop would say the same thing if you came in with... say a flat tire with unrepairable sidewall damage. In this case its the wrong OEM size.

I'll bring some optimism to the table here. 3 worn 225/55R17's are probably closer to the height of your new 215/55R17 than you think lol jk. As an X owner as well I wouldn't let this fly

Going in tomorrow AM asking for new tires and maybe to check differentials. Hopefully no damage was done. Can't believe they threw on a random tire size on an AWD
