Newbie Question: What does the yellow light by temp gauge check for?
Newbie here:
My wife just got a 2007 G35 Sedan about 3 weeks ago. Now the yellow light by the temp gauge has come on. Also, the big computer says it is time to change the oil. So does light also mean to change oil or something more serious?
Also if you change the oil yourself, how do you reset the computer?
Thanks in advance,
KillerBox

You should read the manual. They list what all the warning lights mean.
Most likely you're talking about tire pressure getting low. Does it have an exclamation point in the middle? If it is, then that means you have a low tire pressure. Since you are living in Alabama, where temperatures are not below freezing, there is a possibility that you might have hit some needles/nails on your tire. Make sure the tire is filled to the correct pressure (I would probably fill them up to 41 psi HOT.) 36-38 PSI cold is the preferred temperature. Don't go by what the manufacturer says on the door. The tire pressure is too low because I got premature tire wear around the edges using the manufacturer's recommended psi.
I've also talked to dealers and they say the same thing- optimal tire pressure is 36-38 psi cold.

Thanks for the reply mathnerd88. I think that is the light that I am talking about. The car did not come with a manual. The old owner thinks they might know where it is though.
I will check the air pressure when I get home tonight.
Btw, do you know how to reset the computer after you change the oil?

On the right of your console, there are two buttons. (These are positioned right around your wiper control, and into the dashboard.) You'll know what I'm talking about.
Use the two buttons to navigate your screen. If you keep pressing, you'll eventually come up to a menu called maintenance. Select it, and it should be self explanatory there how to reset the oil change light. They give you directions on how to reset it on the screen. You can also choose your own mileage intervals for the computer to remind you of an oil change.
Also, for your tire pressure warning light:
The light will take around 5 minutes after you filled the tires to the correct pressure to turn off. Don't panic if it doesn't turn off right away. If it turns on around a week or two after again, that means at least one of your tires is leaking air.

Here is an old thread I did years ago to pull diagnostic codes for TPMS lights.
I had one of my TPMS sensors fail a few years back. It was reading about 10psi low.
