no mod uprev

ive got an 07 g35x... looking at the uprev tuner for my car. i will not be modding the car much, if anything ill do the drop in filter and engine ground kit... anyways
i have a few questions.
will the uprev tune give any power?
what kind of gas milage increase will i see when i switch on the economy tune?
and can you reprogram it later if i decide the car needs a turbo or something?

also, i have access to a dyno and a person who know how to tune, do the uprev require this or is it a plug and play from the box

IMO no reason to get an uprev without supporting mods!

^whs if youre not considering an exhaust or intake then the stock tune as is from factory is pretty aggressive and my guess is that uprev wont get you anything more than 5who stock, so its your call... for good gains think about HFC, exhaust and intake and then tune to get the AF ratio right and squeeze out more power.

I'm more interested in the lower octane tune and the gas milage increase. I'll have this car for over 300k miles. And it is just my winter car.

@freakta: If thats all that you're looking for then you can get a tune to save a few $$ per fill up like stardust said, about any stock tuner would do, uprev or cobb both are good for what you're looking for in their stock map.

btw, if u didn't make "throttle sensitivity" tsb, which decreases it (god, I so hate I made this mistake!) - your car is REALLY aggresively modded from the factory, no need to tune it!

not really, im looking tpend that money on a tuner so i can same thousands over the ownrership period of my car. ill do 25-30k miles a year, saving me a 20-25 cents a gallon is great, saving me 3-8mpg is even better. now at those prices and that extra range id be saving 2 bucks a fillup, and spreading that fillup over a few more days, within the year the unit would pay for itself. after that its all profit. but if i couldnt get the extra milage then it wouldnt be worth it. thats why i was asking. but not many people with the tuner have said anything about milage. im just waiting for them to respond

^well you have to understand that the main purpose for these tuners is to play around with your AF ratio and timing to help increase power, if your main/only goal is to gain mpg then i suggest you get a custom dyno tune which can be had for ~$500 and have the tuner setup everything to gain mpg rather than power. You should search in your regional forums for a good shop in your area and im sure you will get much better results than just getting an uprev tune which wont be specific for your car.

The Bullydog has given me 2-3 MPG since it's application.
It's gotten a few bum reviews because of the company's false claims of 20+ hp, but it has definitely saved it's price in fuel.
I'm not 100% sure if it's their tune, or the fact that I used the programmer to set my timing +2 degrees, but either way... I've had positive MPG results.

i understand the purpose of the tuner is to extract hidden power from the stock tune. they do that by upping the timing, and thinning out the a/f ratio. that is where the fuel milage is coming from. thats what im after. i gained almost 10mpg on my other car after the tune. i dont expect as much with this one but i do expect something. and i also have a person who is a great tuner who i could go to but i dont know what program to buy to use at his shop. i also asked that question in my first post. if not ill do it here.

assuming i have my car dyno tuned, what program would i need to buy to get the car tuned with?

thats a great gain. how much does the bullydog cost? and does it also tune for lower octane, or is it just the 93 tune you are working with.

There's a few programs to choose from.... one being the economy setting, which is designed to save you on fuel.
I haven't tried that so I have no idea how well that works.

I'm running the premium tune which was designed to squeeze out a bit more power (unsure how much if any I have gained) and it does require 93 octane. I have a very "spirited" driving style and even with my rabbit lauches and goofing around, I average 20-21 mpg in manual mode. I see maybe 1mpg more if I keep it in D. If I behave myself, I've gotten 28 on the highway.

The economy tune does not require 93 octane like the premium tune does. I believe it runs on 89. (if I remember correctly)
The tuner also allows you set set shift points and top end speed in case you want to raise or reduce that as well.

http://www.bullydog.com/ but you can find many used on the forum or in eBay, as many buy this and then want to upgrade to tunes which offer more power. (I'm running the PowerPup... there's a few devices available from them now)
Mine will be for sale within the next year or so... I'm not tuning until I have HFCs.
