2 lights are on after remote starter put in

Hi,
Today I had a remote starter installed on my '07 G35.
Now my "service engine soon" light is on as well as the little key indicator light which tells that the key is out of the car and/or not matching. Car is driving fine. Do you think maybe the remote starter installation tripped a couple of codes and the codes just need to be reset?

Reset the codes by either the throttle method(search here) or quick way of disconnecting the battery for a few mins, but you will loose your preset seat and radio settings, then drive for a few days and see if they come back.

As for the key light, it could also be coming on because your key battery is low or maybe something with the install, did they install the old or the new key bypass module?

The old one required an extra ikey to be installed into the module and then placed in the car which works 99% of the time without any issues, the new one which is programmed and does NOT require an extra ikey has at times caused the issue where the car does not recognize the code and therefore thinks the key is not present and does not remote start the car and would obviously illuminate the ikey light, they might have somehow worked around it and made the car remote start while it might not actually be recognizing the presence of the key, i know it might be a bit confusing but i hope you can makes sense of all this.

G/L and keep us posted for future users.

I'm not really following but I do appreciate you trying. I'm bringing it to the dealer where I bought it a couple weeks ago because they hired the guy who installed it. I called and they said the install may have tripped a few codes that need to be reset. Not sure but I'll have them check it since I just bought it from them. Key battery prob is not low. This key light just started today after the remote started was installed. I will ask them to find out. The remote start IS working fine, it starts up ok. Thanks

^ Since the guy works for the dealership now he should be able to fix everything up for you without harming your warranty so dont worry about what i said, since he installed it he should make sure everything is perfect after install, keep us posted with what the problem turns out to be,

Your dealer might, most of the time you have to ask about things that don't come standard. There are a few folks at the dealership that will sell you on everything they can without breaking a law but breaking your bank acct.

+1 i think it's an aftermarket kit. many dealers will install it and warranty the labor though. the local ones here will, and they can integrate the starter into the stock keyfob too.

My dealer wants $700 for a remote starter installed

I've decided that if I do it, I'll go with a new Viper alarm/starter combo that will let me control everything from the fob, or from my phone
