the car should not be rusting after 3-4years even without ever seeing a single coat of wax, if the cars paint is rusting on the upper panels then it was probably a bad paint/CC job that left an opening in the paints surface to allow the water and salt to seep in and cause that.
Yes wax helps prevent it but there is no excuse for such premature rusting as long as the car sees an occasional wash after seeing a harsh winter with those harsh salts.

I had this issue...went to the dealer and they repainted the whole trunk for free...

They initially tried telling me that if it is from a rock chip, it won't be covered...but when i showed it to them, it was under the chrome strip on the trunk, they realized that it can't be a chip, and they repainted the trunk.

Its annoying, and wierd but i guess it happens.

I had the car into the dealer for service this week and they washed it. Today I noticed rust starting up on my 07 in two spots on the trunk lid, in the exact same area, on either side of the tail lights. I couldn't believe it. I'm seeing a lot of crap with this car and have only had it since December. Infinity better have their act together with their 2011 + 'cause I'm seirously unimpressed. How the hell are they going to compete with the likes of BMW and Mercedes?! I mean my Mazda Protege took 7 years to show any rust and I never even rust proofed it. Totally ridiculous.

I'll post pics tomorrow and report back when I show it to the dealer.

*sigh*

^ i really feel your pain, i for one am very happy with the G's offerings, its value and love the way it drives, the occasional rattle doesn't bother me one bit since they develop in almost every car over time but the only thing that does bother me is the weak CC and paint which causes quick chipping on front bumper and half hood unlike any of my previous cheap beater cars, but thankfully no rust issues here and i hope it stays that way!

Keep us posted.

Hi all, just a quick note to say I didn't have time to take pics before leaving on vacation. Will take some and post when I get back in April.

Red, saw your pic, my rust isn't like that at all. I'll look for your type of rusting when I get home.

mine wasn't like Red's either...it was more like a oval pea sized spot right at the edge of the trunk lip.

Maybe that happened from the trunk slamming down and making contact with the painted surface?

^i have no clue, really dont use the trunk that often. And i feel like if it was the trunk slamming on it, it would be across the whole little lip there, not just a small peice.
