lemme shed a lil hope for you guys

a lil proof the 2nd gen sedan and HR motor are quite reliable and durable. id say this 07 sedan is driven on the hwy atleast 90% of its life. all regular maintenance done at the dealer. and still runnin as if it had 50k....

wow thats very heartening to see! i think thats the highest miles iv seen the one before was about 180k that i saw. I take it that the engine and trans are fine, so hows the paint and suspension holding up? Were there no other repairs performed other than regular maintenance??

ah, some piece of mind, bought used w/ 26k on it and was hoping I"d be driving it for years to come, this is a good sign...
I"m also curious to see how the paint is holding up, read some unsatisfactory threads in regards to the paint that comes on our G's.

Why is everyone so surprised? Is it because no-one keeps thier car long enough to see that? Tons of vehicles these days will go the distance with regular maintenance, yeah even DOMESTICS. To OP, i'm sure the rest of the forum is surprised but ahhhh there are lots of old maxima, and old datsuns running around with that kind of mileage (ok not Lots) but they're out there. Hey even Stanzas, if any of you know what that is.

Well, the difference is my old 97 Maxima (over 220k) does not have much electronics and digital controls while G35 has ICC, APC, digital temperature control, keyless start....and all that good stuff.

so yes, I'm also interested to see how the suspension, paint, and electronics hold up. I don't ever think new engine will fail at 200k unless u beat it to death daily then it "may" have much greater chance to fail.

love it, great job. Have you been using a specific oil for the life of the car?

^ whs(scorpkev) its not about the engine and trans which are known to last a long time, its about everything else like he said. i too have owned two cars that i sold in working condition @ 180k (mitsubishi mirage yes i said mitsubishi ) and 208k(accord) .

So yes there are many such cars as well with high mileage but this is the highest on this forum and ppl are not surprised but rather happy to see some evidence that even these moderate high tech vehicles can last a while as well in full working order without extra high cost maintaince. They are responding positively cause this offers some piece of mind to many imo.

To everyone congratulating him - it's probably not his car... he's an Infiniti service tech so he probably snapped a pic of the owner's odometer while it was in for service. Just sayin'

lol correct /\

the paint and body looked good on the car as every other 07-08 g35 sedan that comes in. no leaks, the only thing i saw that was changed was the hose clamp on the rad hose from the t-stat. everything else looked good. suspension, engine, trans.....all performed and felt as if it were at 40-50k (calculated by the avg 15k miles/year). this guy is a rep for serta and apparently does nationwide driving in this car. his biggest maintenance costs other than reg services are brakes and tires. i put all new rotors on it at 169k and had to replace the rear pads (1mm, machined rotors) and he wanted new front pads (which were at 5mm, but rotors had some runout so i machined them)

the only problems ive really seen with these cars specifically is if the owner likes to do 8-10k mile oil services....you'll get IVT cover codes, or no codes but the car will randomly cut off at idle cuz of the oil sludge/dirty/old oil. otherwise, just change your fluids, belts and filters like you should and this will be a lasting motor.

and as far as older cars with high miles....im aware there are tons of OLD cars out there today with high miles. guy that works next to me has an old pontiac somethin LOL with over 300k on the original 350. im just commending this car cuz its only 4 years old.....gets driven atleast 60k a year, and is still truckin as if it were not even broken in yet.

cheers

WOW! That amazing! Better for the car when on the freeway. I drive more in city now and i think all this stop and go traffic is bad for the car.
