How much left in fuel reserve?

Has anyone driven their G35 until it was out of gas? I'm curious as to how much fuel is left when the warning light comes on. The trip computer seems to stop reporting when there's less than 30 miles remaining.

My guess is about 50-60 miles. I have filled the tank w 17 gallons after reaching the "***" and its a 20 gallon tank.

When the little trip computer says there are 30 miles left, I usually have between 3.5 and 4 gallons left. When it says zero miles left, I still have at least 2.5 gallons left. Basically, since the mpg indicator is so darn accurate in the car, I usually go by that times the 20 gal in the tank, and then compare it to my trip meter (which I reset at every fill up) and ignore that dumb reserve indicator altogether. At a typical 20 mpg average for me, I can usually go another 50 miles after it says I should be empty. The most I have ever filled up was a full 20.3 gallons. I figured I must have been running on fumes when I pulled into the station that time.

i've driven 10 or so miles with the computer at "---" and usually when i'm down to 20-30 miles left and fill the entire tank up, i put in about 15-16gal. i probably get slightly less than average mpg though

I put 18.2 gallons in once. I was scared to go further. Walking is a ego killer.

Usually have around 4 gallons or so left when it comes on for me. I'll fill up when it comes on. Not good to let it run too low anyways.

i'm glad someone asked this. in my acura i once made it 50 miles on the highway with the gaslight on, heh heh. i wasn't so sure about doing that in the G but now it appears i can easily go another 20 miles once it's on empty without worrying.

@Anton - the only bad thing is Kramer ditched the car at the end of the episode

Considering the computer (at least in my car) seems pretty accurate in computing fuel consumption, I would just use that as reference. It tell how much mileage (appx) you have left. Another option is just drive until you run out of gas and you'll know for sure. Remember that once that light comes on it's all about how you drive, the computer could say 50 miles to empty but if your foot is in the tank i guarantee you it won't be 50 miles.

Also I've heard running a fuel injected car out of fuel is not good for the injectors so you may not want to go that far as I suggested but if you really want to know first hand you gotta do do it.
