original brake performance

I was one of first to drive g35 back in 2003, new brake was really good until after 1st brake pad change, it was never the same since then.

I bought 07 G35, noticed the brake is just so so. Got a G37 loaner and it is night/day difference.

I'm not into brakes, but is it just rotors not being new or something I need to maintenance (brake fluid flush?)? Changing new brake pads will not get back to same brake performance as new car.

What am I missing? I am sure 07 G35 brakes much better than this, perhaps a brake fluid flush at 60k? New rotors? From past experiences with other cars, even new pads (thicker thus more pressure) does not seem to help much.

do u have S or not? either way to get more feel you should get SS brake lines and a brake fluid flush/change will help greatly, also make sure they bleed the system properly to make sure that there is no air in the system. The G brakes are actually great compared to many and is good even for some track sessions.

Nope, it is journey.

So new or used rotors does not contribute much to the brake performance?

I also wonder why my 03 G35 never brake the same after 1st brake pad change, I just figured prob rotors is no longer new.

what's the cost I'm looking at changing to SS brake lines and technically how does it improve?

ss brake lines are generally ABOUT $100 or less, depends which brand you choose. while you're at it you might as well get a fluid change. it works because with rubber hoses, it supposedly flexes when the brakes are applied, thus losing some of that "braking power" to tube flexing.

Have you been getting the replacements from infiniti? Have you changed rotors? If so, you shouldn't be seeing worse and worse performance in your brakes. Try a fluid flush at a trusted mechanic. Might as well up to SS brake lines while you're at it.

If you're still on the first set of rotors, its possible the fluid flush will help, but it may never feel as good as a fresh set.

A good set of pads and rotors will always make a difference as well when it comes to a better bite, but if you problem is a spongy pedal then go with bleeding, fluid and SS lines first

Problem is not spongy pedal, just need a better "bite" braking.

Got this car used at 59k but from service record, it should be original rotors with re-surface just done.

To minimize the cost, I might try flush brake fluid and SS brake lines first.

But I always wanted cross drill rotors, can I just replace the front 2 rotors with current pads (will change pads until it wears out)? Or I need to change new pads with new rotors?

I am spending too much on this car since I got it 2 months ago, I need to slow down (clear bra, warranty, 60k maintenance, nav module, tint, full detailing products...)

If you're gonna get serious upgraded brakes, be prepared to pay. Don't get cheap cross drilled, they can crack under heat.

I am OK with original rotors/pads since they perform what they were designed to do (stop the car) very well. However, the OEM pads are dusty and thus very noisy (get the squeal immediately prior to stopping - feels like I am driving a cab not a luxury sedan). Rotors warped due to lack of splash guard protection (judder TSB) and were cut twice. Will replace both with non-stock options but IMO if no squeal or judder problems then just flush/replace fluid every 2 years and stock pads +/- rotors as needed.

brake performance is not deteriorating so bad, just that i noticed loaner G37 (w/23k abusive miles) is so much better.

I have $250 service credit from Infiniti USA, was hoping this dealer could do brake fluid flush but they don't offer such service. Finding other things I can use this credit for.

Just flush them.
I do my own breaks and flush with a help from my brother (to pump). Happy with my breaks, better then most other cars i drove.

TBH my brakes were ok when I first got them. After a year or so the rotors started to slowly warp and eventually I had the worst brakes I've ever tried in any car (not joking)

I replaced them with the Akebono BBKs and the difference is truly night and day, it feels a million times more predictable and I get really good feedback from the road now with no shakes or vibrations what so ever.
