Hey guys, I have an 08 G35 non-sport with the 18" sport wheels and currently live in Arizona. I might be moving to Michigan for the next 3 years very soon. I was wondering if those living in snow states with non-X G35's got snow tires on their current rims and spent money twice a year to remount them with the summer tires, or if they just bought whole new rims? Which option is cheaper in the long run? And if I get new rims, can I get 17" or 18" wheels? Thanks so much for the help!

i would highly suggest you run a winter set and a summer set of wheels/ tires. the cost and hassle of mounting and balancing tires on 1 set of wheels is a lot and will give you a huge headache every 6-8 months. it's much easier to just swap out a different set. finally you can opt to get either 17 or 18" wheels as your second set.

Get a second set and save yourself the trouble and cost from mounting . When u mount and dismount tires too much u can mess them up. I live in md and run a separate winter set, cost me 900 shipped 17 inch alum with tires mounted

I agree with the others. Having two sets of wheels is better for you and the tires.

Plus take a look at tirerack for 18" snow tires.. $$$$$
250+ per tire... And that is for H rated tires.

That is why I went with another set of wheels..

get some cheap wheels for winter. The second you jack up some good wheels, you will hate yourself.

My wheels cost about 110 each and they look pretty damn good for a winter setup. I got everything from dtd

Did you guys have to buy new tire pressure monitoring equipment for the new wheels? If so was it expensive?

If you can live with the little orange light on your cluster then just run without TPMS in the winter and save $100+, it is not required. If anything, it used to serve as a small reminder that I am running winter tires and not to chew them up with too much spirited driving.

Exactly.... I have had my light on all winter.... It does not bother me... I drove for how long now without having any TPMS. I think I know when I get a flat...

I thought the $200 bucks for sensors and the $50 bucks for the install and labor was not worth it....

Definitely get a set of 17s. You shouldn't have any trouble with brakes not fitting, but definitely get out the tape measure. Now is a good time to buy used, so definitely check the marketplace.

I have the sport 18s and the G37 19s. I'm not sure if i'm going to get another set of 17s for the winter. I think i would be upset if i messed up my 18s, but we'll see.

I agree with everyone above that says to get a cheap set of 17s with snow tires. You run the risk of damaging the wheels each time you change the tires. I have seen some nice wheels get scraped up by an incompetent tech when replacing the tires.
