What makes an "S" model? I am looking to buy

I am in the market for a low mileage 07-08 G35 sedan. I am wanting a 6MT but I will consider an auto if it has the correct combo of low mileage, color, options and price.

Combing through the on line ads, I see a lot that say they have the "sports" package or the "premium" package, but some of the cars that supposedly have the "Sports" package do not have the red "S" on the rear of the car.
  1. What is the "Sports" package?
  2. What cars had the red "S" on the rear deck after the "G35" emblem?
  3. What comes in the "Premium" package?
Thanks, Eric.

Thanks for the link, I had already read that article. But it doesnt really answer my questions.

And as to why I hadn't made a post in two years;
  1. Finished building a new house
  2. Was working crazy stupid hours
  3. Kids (two teenage boys now)
  4. Caddy CTS-V!
Thanks, Eric.

Sport package has:

Sport seats
paddle shifters
different front bumper
different suspension
18" sport wheels
etc.

From my best knowledge, any G with a sport package should have the red S after the G35 on the rear. If it doesn't I would say that it does not have the sport package. You can always ask the deal for the window sticker to check if it has the sport package. However, if it dows not have the S I would stay away if you are looking for a Sport G35.

i think there is a sports tire/wheel pkg that has the S model tires/wheels but doesnt have the "internal" hardware.. thus, no red S on the back..

yes many G35X here in Canada have 18" wheels combo without any "S" in the rear.

True, forgot about that. But those, along with the suspension are only on non x models.

Front bumper, side skirts, seats, bigger rotors in the front i believe, pedal shifters ( Auto) and sportier suspension.

2007 Sport models had:

VLSD
13" rotors front and rear
Sport tuned suspension
staggered 18" wheels
Summer performance tires
Sport seats
Drilled aluminum pedals
auto's got magnesium paddle shifters
different front bumper and side sills
optional spoiler
"S" badge

As was previously mentioned, the "Performance Wheel and Tire Package" can be confused as a "sport", but it is hardly a replacement for the full Sport models.

Here's a link from Infiniti that shows all this plus a description of the "Premium" package: http://infinitihelp.com/models/2007/...ifications.php

BTW Eric, I'm sooooo jealous of the CTS-V. What year do you have?

.

That's the problem, I HAD an 05 CTS-C, which I modded the suspension, cat-back & rims & tires, then drove the p/$$ out of it on the local NorCal tracks. What a blast that car was. I was planning on buying out the lease when it was up, but by that time it had a few extra "squeaks"

The new ones are really phenomenal but the economics right now just aren't panning out, so that is why I am looking to get a uses G35 S sedan. Maybe in another two years!

Eric

Thanks for the info guys, that makes sense.

Were the paddle shifters on the autos only available with the "S" model?

And could someone point me to a pic showing both the non-sport and the sport "different front bumper and side sills"?

Thanks again, Eric
