Which Ipods work with the G35?

I just got my 08 G35 and I am still trying to figure out how to work some of the bells and whistles.

The Ipod adapter came with the car, does it work with any of the new Ipods?

Eric.

All iPods should work, however only older generation iPods will charge while plugged in. Being the smart company that Apple is, they changed the charging pin location in newer generation iPods which then required the purchase/use of newer products compatible with iPods if you wanted to be able to charge.

So, yes, any iPod will work, but not all iPods will charge.

Apple did away with firewire syncing to consolidate on one chipset - USB. I guess their thinking was that most windows-based pcs don't have a firewire port anyway, and the windows market is large. consolidating to USB probably cuts cost and size by a small amount.

Anyway after some research, i can confirm the the current 160Gb iPod Classic will indeed charge via firewire (not sync, just charge!), and since the pinout on the infiniti ipod cable charges via firewire you're good to go with this model. all other ipods (to my knowledge) won't charge via firewire pinout, only the iPod Classic.

Just last week, i bought a new iPod Classic and installed it in the armrest with the infiniti cable and it charges and works great.

Hmm, if you got an '08, to the right of the a/v RCA jacks (in the armrest) you should have a port (has a cover) that accepts a proprietary Infiniti cable which connects to the dock connector on the iPod. That cable will allow you to control the iPod from stereo - change songs/playlists/artists, etc. It was added for the 2008+

Same thing for me except I have a 07. The only port other than the AV ports in the arm rest is a standard power port.......from what I can tell.

Ipod

Eric,

iPod Classic is the only one that I know that works flawlessly with our motor cars...they charge and integrate seamlessly with the Infiniti audio/Ipod system.

Correct me if I am wrong, but '07 G35 sedans only have the iPod port if they have the Nav and Tech packages and the '08 G35 sedans only have it with the Nav package.

thats true. even though i have the 08 model [bought in jan 09] i do not have the ipod port. think it has something to do with GCC specs and US specs [mines a GCC spec bought in dubai]. its ridiculous how infiniti has 'forgotten' to install the ipod port in the GCC version, apparently.

Question iPod charging question

I just bought an '08 G35x Sedan, and it came with the iPod integration cable. I've had my iPod Classic 80gb plugged in for about 4 hours now. Question is, I'm not really sure if it's charging or not? I don't get an error on the screen about not charging, but on the other hand I don't get the little lightning bolt in the battery status either like I do when I charge from other sources. The integration part works fine and the Infiniti logo shows up on the iPod. After having it on the car (and using it) for 4 hours the battery meter didn't move off of full at all, except when I took it off and played with it for a few minutes the battery meter did drop slightly, and then didn't go back to full when I put it back on the car for 20 minutes.

Can anyone else who has an iPod Classic they know is charging off the Infiniti iPod cable confirm whether or not the little lightning bolt shows up in the battery meter when it's charging?

Thanks,

nbhms

My 2008 does not have that option.
