A note for the Akebono swappers

I know it goes without saying that anyone should bleed their brake fluids at certain intervals, but i just wanted to share this experience.

A few days after the Ake's went in about a year ago, i re-bled the system using better fluid and left it at that.

This past weekend i decided to replace/re-bleed with new fluid. Having done this so many times on the G, and all previous rides, what i found coming out of the initial stream was somewhat surprising -- dark brown fluid.

I guess the calipers and/or the SS-lines themselves weren't that clean to begin with.

On the upside, it has nice clean fluid now and the pedal feels much better.

^ I couldn't agree more about changing brake fluid.
I think it's something that gets overlooked a lot!

When I got my M Coupe I was shocked to see the fluid that came out of the calipers.
The car only had 17K miles yet the first stream of fluid was schit brown.

Another interesting note: both my friend an myself swapped our brakes using the same mechanic (my friend's friend). His was done first, mine second. When doing my fluid flush, the mechanic said my reservoir was larger than the one on my friend's car, even though they're both 08's. His car used one container of fluid, mine used almost two.

I had mine properly bled with Motul RB600 fluids when I had them swapped. Everything feels great so far!

They should call the initial fluid "break-in" fluid. Get it?

That is interesting. I wonder why?
