Angry Cruddy experience with Orlando Infiniti. Just bought a C.P.O. 08 G35s sedan.

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster on the forum.

I just had an "extremely aggravating experience" in buying my first Cert Pre-owned G35 sport from Orlando Infiniti the past 2 weeks. Yes, it took 2 weeks, of which i had an ex35 loaner to put around in. I traded in my 07 journey g35 on it, they sold me the car on a Saturday, said they'd respray the hood due to love-bug damage, it's pouring rain outside, so i don't get to look over the car closely. I get the keys and i drive home. The next day i get up early to detail it, as I'm washing it i find large scratches all over the car, i find that someone had keyed the drivers side door(4 inches long) and looks like they touched it up with nail polish (I'm sure it was the previous owner, not Infiniti) and other marks/blemishes that would make a detailer shrink away. Plus the car was dirty, inside mainly. I took pictures of the 4 largest issues and wrote a polite yet direct email asking them what they'd do to fix it. They called and apologized about how the car was delivered blah blah blah, said they'd have the manager take a look at it. Plus whoever detailed the car should be fired, dirt/sand all over, smelled like smoke and there was what looked like blood on the headliner. Plus they said they'd replace the mats since the previous one's were "filthy" according to the salesman. So that following Monday they politely drove an hour north to Lady Lake to bring me a loaner while they look into my claims, all while being apologetic. So they swap the cars out and that's where it all went down hill....

It took them till Saturday to tell me that i had to come down (an hour away) to "talk about it" face to face, where they brought in the manager and said that they wouldn't repaint the trouble area's, after rationalizing with them over the bad experience they said they would pay for half the charges for repainting the keyed drivers door, i told them to forget it and just do the hood, which was the only thing that was promised before i signed the papers. At this point I'm mad, feel like I've been sold a bad car, they said it would be better for me to trade it (equal $ for $ trade of course) into another car, but they didn't have any sports in the g class, and the only m35 sport they had was too slow comparatively when i test drove it. So we agreed on the worst case scenario to have the hood repainted (they said it would lower the value) I was just ready to leave. Now mind you, i didn't haggle the price ONCE, not once, they even low-balled my trade in, but i felt it fair since the sunroof stopped working a month prior. So i finally got them to come out and say that all the blemishes and keying were up to Infiniti standards for the CPO program. I made them verbally tell me that b/c i couldn't believe they allowed it to get sold as such. But they stated that it was acceptable and it wasn't overlooked. I guess my expectations were too high

To their credit they refilled the tank of gas in the EX and i drove an hour home. Another week goes by, the paint is finally done, they ask me to drive down to pick it up, whereas before they said they would gladly drive it to me, so i was a bit upset(since i work from home and didn't have the time to drive down), i asked him if they could drive it up, later while i was on my way down to pick it up he calls back to say he would drive it to me, but with how much i had been let down i didn't trust that half of what they promised would be completed unless i went personally and picked it up. So when i get to the dealer i find my car, looks clean, wheels shiny, but i see they didn't replace the floor mats (said there wasn't enough money in the CPO program to pay for new mats) even though he said he would replace them. I didn't argue. I asked if mats came with CPO's, the salesman said no. At this point I'm internally livid , i just want to leave and never deal with them again. He does actually bring the iPod cable he promised , but then quickly leaves saying he's got 3 things going on at once. Great! just what i wanted, another person that will not spend time to satisfy an unhappy customer. He says he wishes we could have "redone" the whole sale process" and rushes off. I find that the car wasn't detailed like they said it would be, and that the trunk still had the same dirt/crud in it as the day i bought it. So I start the car to find the gas tank is EMPTY, when i gave it to them it had 3/4 of a tank. I start yelling in my head, whip the car into the service bay and have to hold my breath so i don't curse at the innocent service rep. I tell him I'm very angry, and that i just picked this car up (as it's officially being delivered to me) and that of all the things that have gone wrong, they give me the car on E, not close to empty, it was on E! I tell him to put some gas in it and that I'm never dealing with that place again, at least not for a CPO!!!! ...and to top it off, what do they do, they Don't "TOP it off!!" they give me a third of a tank, i just nod and can't wait to drive far far away from that place. Never to buy a CPO from Orland Infiniti again. Slighted? Yes. Angry, you bet! Ripped off, not legally, but if that were family you'd sure as hell take it personally.

I love the staff, gorgeous facility, the salesmen was ONLY following orders, I can't stand the politics that come with a CPO. The service manager is only looking at the Bottom Line, not satisfying the customer. I'm quite upset and never thought that a car dealership could make me this mad at a brand.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with Orlando Infiniti in buying a cert pre owned car?

..... Love my car though, despite the headache and downright apathetic support from the managers.

99 percent of your issues were caused by you not looking over the car carefully before taking delivery.

Why would you purchase a vehicle that you didn't "get to look over closely"?? Did you really believe that the stealership salesmen would be straight up honest?? lol

It's just about the same as people who buy in the net and take delivery. How in the world can people do that. Some people really do think that salesmen/dealerships have their best interest at heart smh

To be brutally honest, you never should have taken delivery of the car prior to FULLY inspecting it, and then, have them specify each and EVERY item they are replacing/fixing/etc etc.

Sorry bro, you're on your own.

+1. You should have fully inspected the car before signing any papers..

wowwwwwwww!!!!!!!
Your expectations are tooooo highhhh,Ipod Cable,Mats.
Always work on a deal and fully inspect the car, before the car leaves the lot.
I do agree with you on getting the car clean and gas its logical.

Sucks man, CPOs should be extra clean, you're paying a premium for the CPO designation. Although everyone's right about fully inspecting the vehicle they should have given you a clean car, a keyed and scratched paint job shouldn't be acceptable for a CPO. (assuming the scratches aren't minor and like you stated, covered most parts of the car). I think I'd contact Infiniti corporation to get a clear detailed description of what minimum requirements a car must pass to be a Certified PreOwned.

I hear ya, it was a rushed scenario, my compressor went out that morning and i was close to the dealership, .... one thing led to another. I assumed they walked their talk. I've learned my lesson BIG TIME! I'm having my detail guy have carte blanche to fix what can be fixed. It's still a beautiful car, and you can't notice anything unless it's pointed out, but once you see it, you can't ignore it.

It's so much quicker than my previous g35, love the sport! Going out with a couple of BMW's tomorrow, looking forward to smoking the 330i's.

Do you guys think it would do me any good to get ahold of Infiniti or write a letter to the owner/manager of the dealership??

Thanks!

Man i really feel for you but as you know, your trusting nature has earned you this reward in this cruel world... I say if you're enjoying your car then just forget about pursuing it further and causing yourself more distress, just learn a valuable lesson of not trusting anyone and getting everything in writing and move on.

I would at least find out what criteria they use to eliminate cars that aren't CPO worthy.
I know that Lexus, BMW, Audi and MB won't consider a scratched & keyed car for their CPO group (they might, but they damn sure would have the issues fixed before putting it back on the lot for resale). I'm pissed and it's not even my transaction

I agree with everyone else... all these minor issues are of your own making or your own imagination.

I had a mixed experience at Orlando Infiniti where I bought my 06 G. They advertised the car online as CPO, but when I got to signing the papers it was not designated as such. As a concession they fixed a couple of little issues that the car had. One thing I did appreciate was that the sales manager talked to the service manager and fulfilled my request to have them put the car in the air so I could come into the shop and do a good inspection of the suspension, exhaust, etc. Most dealerships refuse and cry about their insurance and liability for letting a customer into the shop.

The paperwork people there were the real nightmare... they couldn't figure out how to document and register that car... they asked me to just sign the papers and got pushy when I took the time to read them... of course I found half a dozen substantial errors.

I guess it's just me, but I wouldn't consider a scratched & keyed supposed CPO
car a minor issue at all, and I seriously doubt it was the OPs making or his imagination, although I don't know the OP or have personally seen said vehicle.
I doubt if you were in the OPs shoes you'd feel the same way. Although it does sound like you had questionable dealings w/the same dealership YIKES!
