One thing I do though...if there is a safety factor in the work I do by myself (i.e. springs, brakes) I will pay my mechanic to do an inspection. It's quick, cheap and gives me some comfort. I have my kids in the car a lot so it has to be safe.

My dealer keeps reminding me that my rear pads are at 3mm ... they want $290 plus tax
To replace pads and resurface rotors.
I laughed inside... a bit more and I can get new rotors and pads on all 4 corners
