Dealer cost for rear rotors + pads?

A bit off topic - About 2 months ago I paid $60 (shipped) for rear brake pads and my mechanic installed them for me. He charged me $40. They have been working great.
Dealerships generally go buy the book rate so they should all be about the same.
If the book says it will take an 1.5 hours to replace rotors and brake pads then thats what they bill you for...even if they are done in and hour. They just replaced my front brake pads and rotors (and added the splash guard, under warranty, per TSB). It took them 1.5 hours.
I haven't paid the dealership for anything, nor will I, since the day I purchased the car in 2007. Strictly warranty work.

Just had International Infiniti (Waukesha, WI) do my rear brakes: $379 for pads and machining the rotors. Keep in mind that the factory rotors can tolerate one machining. You may NOT need to have new rotors.
(Yes, I know that I should have done this one myself but my impact wrench died and the VDC/Slip light warning had been coming on for several weeks. The G was in for front brake judder warrant work and I was down to less than 10% pads on the rear at 33K miles; so what the heck.......)
The bottom line is that you can save bucks by doing it yourself. It is a pretty simple job.
Honestly, I didn't think that was bad price. International has always been great on any service that I have had done either warranty or regular maintenance.

Alright. I've never replaced pads (always heard it was easy) or rotors (never heard anything). I looked in the DIY section and obviously it isn't posted. I know this is pretty straightforward for anyone who's done it.
Any advice for someone who has never done this before? Tools? Techniques? Steps?
Any old pad and rotor combo would be fine as long as it's OEM fitment?

If there's not a DIY here, then just google it or search youtube. There are so many tutorials out there and even if it's not specifically for the G, it's pretty much the same thing and would certainly give you a good feel for the basics. BTW, you can download the FSM for free by signing up at InfinitiHelp.com.

I have a saved .pdf copy of the 2007 G35 Sedan Maintenance and Repair Manual right here. You will be needing BR.pdf for the brakes. All the files are about 90MB.
Here is the 2007 G35 Owners Manual too.

Just did mine the other day, $220 for F&R Rotors and pads. Installing them took me about an hour. I too have never been to the dealership for anything besides warranty work because they really do try to rip you off as much as they can. Honestly until recently i thought that all standard maintenance could only be done by professionals, but after using google and infinitihelp.com its honestly very easy. From now on i plan on doing all the standard maintanence stuff (oil changes, pads and rotors, etc.)
